Offline | Automatic Folding Mirrors Are the Automatic Folding Mirrors programmable? ie folds when the car is turned off and unfolds with car is turned on? My MA says no, but history has proven that he's an idiot. CP |

Offline | not sure that they are programmable, and i think if they were i don't know how many people would want it anyway. i've used mine a couple times but mostly when backing into the garage while the car is still moving. also, I can see the programming not working entirely correctly and missing out on something like "if mirrorState == 1 then doFold == 0" and just merrily going about trying to fold it and burning out the mirror motor. ![]() |

Offline | Oh bok, you better have more confidence in your car than that. It's "drive by wire" remember? ![]() // Don't drive it on a Tuesday! for (; {if (gasPedal >= oldGasPedal && currentDay != "Tuesday") { gasPedalMotor.pumpGas(gasPedal); } oldGasPedal = gasPedal; } (I love writing pseudocode, it always compiles and you never get threading issues!) The door handles are programmable - maybe you get locked in and your cell phone is dead, then 4 days later your car gets towed to the impound lot 'cause your parking tag expired and they discover your stinking self lying on the floor under the steering wheel. Oh, wait that hits a bit too close to home this morning. -M |

Offline | i have confidence in the car itself, just not sure i have confidence in some of the convenience features having decent case logic especially if it's pretty new. who knows, the european models might have this programmable. Honestly it is probably super easy thing to add, but for those scant few of us with this option in NA, i bet MINI isn't too worried about it...until the '07s that is heh ps. pseudocode is my friend too ![]() |

Offline | Heh heh, I love pseudocode; if only the code at work were that easy. There may be ways to have the mirrors fold when you use the remote locking feature on your key. IIRC, it involves a circuit board and 3rd party vendor (Mikey perhaps?) I still want retrofitted folding mirrors! ![]() ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | It would be an easy way to know if the car was locked as you peer out the window to the street where you left it. Or to confirm that it really locked as you walk away from it in a parking lot. If you trigger it off the door locks just be sure that they don't fold up as you hit 15km/hr! ![]() -M |

Offline | since there are a few code monkeys here, i can just imagine them implementing the auto folding mirrors option and some day seeing "Brillant! The 'real' WTF is that the mirrors fold at all" comments on the net ![]() |
