Offline | Seeing that made me a bit peckish. "And I thought to myself, 'a little fermented curd will do the trick'. So I curtailed my Walpoling activites, sallied forth, and infiltrated your place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some cheesy comestibles." ![]() ![]() www.MINICalgary.com |

Offline | We plan on having a run every month. The one I've planned for November has loads of single track roads through small vallies and over hill tops and ends up having fish and chips by the sea. Luckily we keep on adding to our clan of Mini's due to me sticking a leaflet on any unaccompanied parked Mini's! ![]() |

Offline | Craig, I'm getting a copy of the Dvd from the last run and sending it over to you. It's produced by one of our group and it's very good. I'll send it as soon as I get it. |

Offline | That would be very nice of you, Kirsten. There is a shop just down the street from my house that can do conversions. How is the immigration thing going? |

Offline | Who's Kirsten? The guy who did the DVD says that it will play on anything, so hopefully no need for the conversion. The immigration rules changed on the 1st Sept 06, which apparently made it more stream lined. I just need to save up for the application fee, so should be submitting it soon. Fingers crossed. |

Offline | Sorry, Kirsty! I was feeling less than alert that day. Is the application fee steep? If I recall, it is non-refundable, or used to be. Fail in your application and they keep your money! Good luck with it, anyway. |

Offline | Well I can probably kiss good bye to the best part of $600 CAD but every penny is worth it. I should have enough points to get the visa... Would you believe on the visa info, you only need $12,000 CAD to bring to live on??? The UK has gone terribly downhill.... the papers today are full of green taxes i.e. higher road tax and wanting to charge us for every mile we drive; council taxes i.e. if you make improvements to your house, they have the right to come round and phograph your home (they fine you £1000 if you don't let them in and £200 per day until you do) and charge you more, plus if you live in a nice area where crime is low and the streets are clean (despite the fact that the council don't clean ours) you get taxed higher... some people who now pay £1000 could end up having to pay £5000 per year, on top of income tax and other taxes and licences you need to buy i.e. tv. We've got the highest government surveillance in Europe and the government has bought software, which can find out personal details about households, even down to how much money you spend on beer, if you have pets and how much you eat! Oh and then there's the thing about people getting microchipped!!! Have you ever seen the film Demolitian Man?...... No, watch it, that's where the UK is headed with the Labour government in power. It all sounds like a joke but the stark reality is it's all true. ( Rant over) I am ashamed to be British. Please let me into Canada..... ![]() The DVD was sent on Saturday... |

Offline | Micro-chipped!! More than shades of Orwell's '1984' - that is scary stuff!! Surely it won't come to pass? But it sounds like the loony left are still doing what they do best....which is why we got out. It will always be home but I certainly couldn't live there anymore - it's about the people, and that's about it. Best of luck with the moving, and I look forward to seeing the DVD. |

| You are number 6 | This microchip story is rubbish! There was a report in newsletter of the loony right, the Daily Mail, about a survey to see if people would have a microchip implanted so they could automatically pay for their shopping at the supermarket. There is already a night club in Barcelona offering this to their patrons and at last count a massive 25 people had taken up the offer. |

Offline | Thanks Mike. I'll sleep better..... But I notice you are in Australia - can you be sure this is the story, or the only story, Wanda is referencing? |

Offline | It's difficult to know if anything is ever true with our government, as they seem to make statements then back track i.e. multi faith schools. The council tax thing is already being piloted in Northern Ireland and some rubbish bins around the country have been secretly microchipped. Regarding micropchipping people, it woud be a fab idea for chipping the less desirable sections of society i.e. paedophiles etc, which apparently they already do in parts of the US. I would plan on moving to Golden, BC. I like Calgary but Golden has loads of outdoors stuff to do. |
