Offline | Spirited Driving Hey Western Canada folks I took the liberty of purchasing a domain this morning and will work on the weekend to set up some Western Canada specific forums so we can plan our runs and such much like the folks out east do with their local club boards. This one will be mainly for the calgary crew, but all will be welcome. the new site will be SpiritedDriving.com |

Offline | have the webspace set up and all that, was going to put up the forums first and then see about taking some time to design something a bit more static etc. but if anyone wants to help out on that end it's welcome |

Offline | I'm in for that kind of thing - I think we would need some kind of static content to keep people coming back, you know - to differentiate it from this forum... User submitted stuff like MINI profiles, owner bios, local events, upgrades and general experiences etc... -M |

Offline | I brought up this idea in the past, and received resistance from the group as the general consensus was that they did not want "another forum to keep track of". I also requested a Calgary MINI Club section on North American motoring, and it is rarely used. With that being said, let me know if you need any help. I run my own forum and have experience with vbulletin installs, setup, etc. |

Offline | well for me what i am seeing this for is not only for a forum, but for places to put upcoming mini runs, photos, calendars, western canada specific topics like "best roads", best muffler shop, etc. We can post race city schedules, for sale stuff, and stuff that isn't really even mini related. sure all of this is available on other forums, but this one would be "ours" where we could post that we are selling a calendar and not get posts removed or moved to another forum or whatever. new mini owners in this area might be more apt to type or remember spiriteddriving.com than mini2.com/forum/canada to find out what's happening. local "sponsors" could also step up and donate to local contests or things of that nature when they can see that it's targetted toward their marketplace (as a side note, i am not looking for sponsors but if say Carline mufflers wanted to "advertise" i wouldn't say no) having our own regional site is for the same reason that people have their own mini club websites/forums elsewhere. i don't see this replacing MINI2 or NAM or anything like that but as a supplement to it. If it doesn't attract any huge attention and never gets used, then i am the only one out of pocket on this so it's really a win win for everyone /shrug as for the tech on the server it's your basic LAMP set up. |

Offline | the site is up in it's super basic form and the link to the forums is on there so feel free to sign up and such. for now the registration is pretty open, but if spammers start to hit it, then we will change it to where an admin will have to approve membership Welcome to Spirited Driving |

Offline | Did you see it? The old forum is still there, I just clobbered the main page and hope to migrate over the users & posts. We'll see how hard that's going to be and go from there. If it's too hard we'll have to ask people to re-register... I have an updated style template kicking around that I'll apply to the site as soon as I have some time. Bok is going to make up a new header graphic for it this evening. -Mark |
