Offline | What was your price? I am torn between the two and can't really decide on which model to get. I do know that the Soho is a great package and a great valued car, which draws my attention. But my heart lies in the performance engine of the MCS. I am wondering, on average, what was YOUR final price out the door for your Soho and your MCS? Please do PM me and enlighten me with your wisdom, so I can be prepared for the showdown at the dealership. OR Do you recommand getting a used MCS? OR Should I just go over to the local Subaru dealership and go for a tofu box, AKA WRX Wagon? ![]() |

| 05 MCS BEP | I had cross shopped the WRX vs the MCS. The WRX felt heavier to drive and it didn't have the grin factor after driving like the MCS did. There are a few things I liked about the WRX better than the MCS but as an overall package, I felt the MCS was a more satisfying package for my needs. If you go WRX, you might consider the Saab 9-2x for about the same price (after discounts). Used MCS' won't save you a whole lot of money from buying new. They seem to be holding their value pretty good. Routine servicing (Inspection services) of an MCS is slightly less expensive than an MC's but insurance cost for and MCS is much higher than an MC's. As for gas mileage, your mileage will vary depending on where and how you drive and the difference between the MC's and MCS would probably be very slight. If you include taxes, dealer prep, levies, etc (excluding insurance), the difference for a comparably equipped MC vs MCS should be around $2K - 5K. There are things on the MCS that are standard but optional or not available on the MC. I ended up spending about 10K more than I had originally budgetted for because I got carried away with the options list. Like you, I started out looking at the MC (classic package) and ended up getting a fairly loaded MCS. This being Canada, it doesn't look like you can get a factory JCW in 2006 guise anymore unless the dealer currently has one in stock. Good luck with it! 05MCS BEP - Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI, Alta 15%, NGK BRK7EIX |

Offline | Get your dealer to shop around to see if there are any 06 MCS JCW "Competition Edition" cars left in stock. $40K without premium package, $43K with. An awesome car for a great price. |

Offline | Hi and thanks for your replies. I just came back from the dealer and test drove both the SOHO + Rallye edition MC's. They do have a JCW Car sitting around the dealer, but I don't think I want to fork out that much more money when the MCS is sufficient for my desire to be "fast". ![]() After a short talk, some general prices were given to me. SOHO sub total = 26000 / with tax = 31800 (give or take) MCS Rallye sub total = 36000 / with tax = 41000 out the door. My aim is to push the MCS to around 33000 or even 32000, think that's doable? BTW, anyone got carcostcanada.com's qoutes? Please do pm me with some info ![]() |

Offline | There are two 2005 Cooper 'S' listed by private sellers on Autotrader (Alberta), with 25,000Km and 33,000Km, at $33,900 and $34,900. I can't see a brand new car selling for less than a used car. Also, check out this link; Cars: Best of the best | 3 | CNNMoney.com I can't see a dealer chopping nearly 30% off of list |
