Offline | Snow Chains - Canadian Mini Cooper w/Classic -15s I've searched this forum and am getting conflicting information on whether or not snow chains can be fitted to my 06 MC/Classic (15" wheels) Some here say the 15's can take chains, but the dealer says that chains can't be fitted. Anyone in Canada successfully fitted chains to their MC with 15" wheels? Have a brand name/link to a set that will work? |

Offline | According to the manual only snow cables (not chains) can be fitted to 175/60/15 or 175/65/15. I have no idea where to get snow cables, never seen them before. Another thing, if snow is more than about 6 inches deep you'll probably get stuck even with snow cables on the tires. The MINI is quite low to the ground and snow will get jam packed under the car, lifting it up. |

Offline | Living in Edmonton, my Mini hasn't seen a snow free day since I bought it =P I want chains because they are actually required by law to go over the rockies [contrary to Ontario's laws]. You need chains to climb when the road has an inch or two of compact snow and the grade is pretty severe. Interesting about the cables -- I've seen these and they might be the solution. Anyone successfully put cables on without it hosing your struts? |

| 05 MCS BEP | I have a set of cable chains from a previous car that will fit the MINI. I bought them at Costco quite a few years back. I only had to use them once. One year when it snowed so hard even SUV's with proper snowtires found themselves in a ditch. They're like chains but instead of chains, they're cables with little metal teeth attached to them. They dig into ice enough to get your car moving but don't tear up the asphalt like chains do. Kind of like studded snowtires with removeable studs. (studs no demand?) They're fairly inexpensive too. 05MCS BEP - Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI, Alta 15%, NGK BRK7EIX |
