How much discount on SoHo (Ontario)?

Hi, I'm new here, and i've been looking at the SoHo Mini for the past month for a lease.

I've been to the dealership couple of times, and they currently still have one available in my color and options. How much negotiation room do i have on this vehicle? Since the new Mini's are coming out, and this vehicle being one of the last on the lot, how desperate do you think the dealership will be?

Right now, without negotiation, they are asking $450/month, including tax. Is it realistic to go down to $400/month tax in?

Probably best to negociate by final sale price rather than monthly payment, they could just lengthen the term and lower the payment...

It really depends on how desperate they want that car off the lot, from the looks of it (saw a post on NAM where a dealer is giving $1000 off every 06 they have in stock) you should be able to get some $ off.

Thanks. Ya, with the monthly payment, i forgot to mention the other terms. Basically, i'm getting the 3.9% interest rate on 39 months lease.

Alternatively, i'm looking at getting $2000 off MSRP? Is that too much to ask??

Thanks

Before Xmas, I was in contact with Oakville Mini. The salesman said they had a promotion going on at that time where they would cut $2300.00 off MSRP on a Soho. He also said that deal was done by the end of the year. Who knows, maybe it can be carried over. If they could do it then, why not do it now? I almost went out (I'm in Calgary) to get one but decided I'm not going that far for less than $3000.00. They gave my buddy $5000.00 off an S. You'd think they could do $2K for you. Good luck.
Check out the thread I started about buying a Mini from the USA. A guy from Montreal can help you get one at a pretty reduction.

Thanks,

well anyway, we put down a deposit yesterday for an automatic, blue with blue top mini soho. Based on the calc, i roughly got a $1500 discount. Not too shabby.

Picking it up this weekend. Too bad the weather stinks. Can't wait till spring so i can do a full detail on it. I just wish the dealer won't mess it up during PDI.

Now I purchased my MINI from someone else, but.......
This is the feeling I still have 3 years after purchasing my MINI.
But I did get $500 off, free floor mats and a sweatshirt! I You can purchase a MINI at a discount, and had I known better I would have done more research at the time. Yes, myself and many others are/were prepared to pay too much for the car initially just for the novelty of owning one, and in my case to be first on the block to have one...only that novelty quickly wears off. Just my honest opinion.....my next car will be imported from the U.S. (increasing trend for car buyers). Hell, I was able to deal on a ducati more than I ever could on a MINI in this town.

Guys, can we tone it down a little in here? Personal attacks will not be tolerated on MINI2. If you have to carry on in this style I suggest you do so in the pub. Or NAM

I just wanted to take this opportunity to welcome MiniM to MINI2. It's always nice to see new Canadian MINI owners on here.
So, lets all have a nice warm and fuzzy shout out to MiniM and his new blue SOHO!

No problem, but lead by example rather than attacking NAM.
Immature comment IMO.

Have a good vacation xviper, and welcome MiniM.

On topic, gentlemen.

Please refrain from personal attacks and insults. It lowers the tone of the coversation.

Congrats on the Mini, $1500 off isn't bad!

Be sure to check the car over carefully before you drive away in it, go over all the panels and the interior for niks and scratches. If your dealership is anything like MINI Crowfoot, you should be alright, they had no problems fixing a couple of small blemishes that I found when I picked up the car.

Don't forget to post some pictures when you get it You're gonna have fun with the MINI, guarenteed!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Picking up the car this Saturday. Will definitely take some pics, before it is driven off the lot into the salt covered road.

My apologies for not congratulating you on your new car, so let me do it now. May you have years of fun and enjoyment. And a pat on the back for having done so well in the price negotiating end and proving that it can be done. (I hope you got free floormats, too. )

Too bad all of the threads were deleted. There were some valid comments related to dealer mark-up and new vehicle pricing in your threads that everyone should be educated on. Perhaps you can re-post some of that information to enlighten everyone a little.

Well, I tried to enlighten folks, but I'm sure dealers and the like don't want anyone to know about DEALER HOLDBACKS, dealer financing deals, rewards for quotas met or exceeded, month end, 1/4 end, year end motivations and other manufacturer kick-backs throughout the year. These things means THOUSANDS on each and every car. Heaven forbid that the general buying public has any knowledge of such things. Just remember, your free floor mats cost you plenty.
Besides, I've got things to do and places to go.

There's nothing wrong with debate, dissent and discussion. The conversation had very quickly degenerated into namecalling though, and personal attacks are not tolerated on this site.

If you'd care to provide tips on how to best negotiate discounts on a car, no one will have any objection and I would encourage you to edify us.

So take out the name calling and personal attacks next time, and leave the sections on the post that are valuable and do add to the discussion. A little more work, but that's how I moderate my forum.

SOHO pricing

Getting back to the SOHO discounts....

In December there was a factory rebate so the max discount was $2,300 unless the dealership wants to give them away...
In January that rebate was rescinded for good and replaced with a smaller one, now you would be lucky to get between $1,500 and $2,000 off depending on how much stock the dealer has left.
As for the S Rallye, there are no rebates so you may get up to $1,500 off if you're lucky.

If your dealer has more than 3 or 4 of the model that you're looking for, barter away but I have no idea what xviper is on, I wish I was getting the kick-backs he is on about...
