Calgary - Wednesday Night Car Night

As some of you may know, every Wednesday evening is the unofficial "car night" in the Home Depot parking lot at the corner of Macleod & Glenmore. It is pretty much an impromptu, informal show & shine and bs session for car nuts. Pretty well attended, and some pretty nice stuff shows up there at times, everything from Hot Rods to old & new muscle to VWs. But I've not spotted a single MINI yet.... perhaps they're all out motoring.

I think that we need to add some refinement to all that big muscle on display. Anyone else game to cruise down with a few MINIs next Wednesday evening (September 5th) after supper and show everyone that bigger is not necessarily better?

And Faster, you could even bring that Praying Mantis Lotus of yours.

It was a lot of fun. Some cool & interesting cars showed up. Besides the usual parade of Mopars, Shelby Mustangs & Camaros there were also a number of nicely done hot rods, a Ford GT & some nice vintage Vettes. Also had a Jaguar E type, a pristine Sunbeam and a nicely restored MGB.

Our MINIs got their share of attention also. I think we'll have to plan an evening next summer to have a good turnout of MINIs all show up at once.

Does anyone know if the Wednesday night show & shine at Home Depot is going on again on Wed Sept 19, as the forecast is for rain this week.

If it is, we need to show we are a force to be reckoned with . We were however noticed on the 5th as I was approached by a couple this past weekend asking about my car, as they had seen it at the Home Depot that Wednesday night.

Anybody interested? If we manage to intimidate the muscle cars too much, we can always go for a coffee nearby.

The forecast for this Wednesday is for possible snow flurries, yuck! what's with that, so the "Show & Shine" or "Snow & Shine" will probably be a bust.

Would anybody be interested in just going for coffee and a chat instead on Wednesday, at the Starbucks in the Britannia Shopping Center, this location has plenty of tables and chairs, and is located on the north side of the tiny strip mall on the corner of Elbow Drive and 49 th Avenue SW. How about 7:00 pm.
