Bloody Vandals!

Some jerks ripped the fuel cover off my Mini!

I don't know if it was a random act of idiocy or if they actually though they could get gas out of my car. It does have a finger-hold (not flush like so many cars these days) so maybe they thought siphoning would work.

The lock did its job but 2 of the 3 plastic tabs that hold the lid on snapped and the lid was lying on the ground beside the car.

I don't know how much it will be to fix it since the housing for the part is inside the body. Since I have the lid the only thing I need is the plastic fuel door itself.

I'd just glue it on but if it blows off at speed it could be dangerous.

I'm soooooo ****ed right now! (in the Canadian, not British sense)

Sorry to hear this...I hate it when things like this happen... Sounds like they were after your fuel... Replacing the flap isn't a huge job though and is probably something you could do yourself... There are a few threads on here about doing it...

Aw, that really sucks.

Hopefully, there isn't any paint damage and can be easily fixed.

BTW....if your car is a convertible (I believe 05-06), there is the possibility that the cap fell off by itself. I think there was a service bulletin about them a couple years ago. My former boss had a MINI Convertible and it flew off while on the highway and MINI just replaced it.

No paint damage (there is that at least).
And it definitely didn't fall off (not a convertible either) as the tabs that hold on the plate are broken off. It took some force I'm sure, but my have held if the cold hadn't made the plastic brittle.
