Angry What's up with Crowfoot Mini Service?

Does anyone else have issues when dealing with Crowfoot Mini? It took us 3 weeks to make a service appointment and today was finally the day to bring it in. As they still hadn't called to say that it was ready, we called. Of course you can never speak to anyone right away so we had to leave a message. Surprisingly they called back. Apparently they haven't even gotten to it but "maybe" tomorrow. Apparently they have another 17 cars that they hadn't got to today yet either? What's the point of making an appointment then? This by far isn't the first time this has happened. The last time it took a whopping 8 days to complete the service because they were simply too busy.

Does any one else have the same trouble with them? Does anyone take their Mini elsewhere? If so where? We love the car but dread getting any sort of service done. There has to be another place in this city that's more reliable. What about warranty concerns? If the servicing is not done at Crowfoot Mini, will there be any issues if warranty work arises? Thanks for any help.

We all have the same issues. My last service appointment took me 6 phone calls and 2 emails to book an appointment 5 weeks later. Dropped my car off, it took 5 days to look at and then another week or two to order parts.

I am in Edmonton several times a month for work, so may start taking my MINI there.

IMO, once your warranty is up don't bother taking it back to the dealer. Try Alpine Autowerks.

Wow. Are we ever lucky in Vancouver. Both MINI Richmond and Yaletown can generally get you in within a day or so, a bit longer if you need a loaner vehicle. Plus, other than my electrical gremlin that required the entire interior of the car to be removed, the car has always been ready when promised. Even then, Richmond knew I was going on vacation so busted their rears to get it ready.

I feel for you guys. I really do.

Maybe if BMW knew it was so bad they might open another dealership? What about taking it to a BMW dealership? I wouldn't think there would be issues with warranty as they own the MINI brand and we are just baby Beemers, especially now. Just a thought.

Wow. Sounds like my last experience with a GM dealership. I wonder if they're owned by the same people. Hopefully, you get your car back fixed and not find something else mysteriously broken.

I have written to BMW Canada, and have never received a response.

Both dealerships in town (BMW Gallery/MINI Crowfoot, and Calgary BMW) have the same owner. Therefore the same terrible service at both locations. I am starting to wonder why I purchased a 3rd BMW. I guess I like the vehicles and am confident that one day the service will improve.

I've never had problems with the service itself but the wait times were crazy. Sounds like it has gotten worse.

I was thinking of taking mine in for a few bits 'n pieces but I can't afford to be without the car for more than the day.

I've talked to the survey people about it (at some length) when they do the after service calls but, while sympathetic, they didn't have any solutions.

I suggested a satellite repair shop that could deal with the longer term stuff so the dealer only had to do the basic maintenance.

Well I owe the service department a bit of credit. Yes, the wait time was still long, but I had both my MINI and my 3-series in for service this past week.

MINI - Repair clutch/throw out bearing, replace rear hatch struts, inspection.
Inspection found an oil leak from the valve cover gasket. Received a phone call by 1pm notifying me that the car would be kept overnight to order the gasket. All repairs completed on time, and picked the car up the next day. No issues with warranty, etc.

3-Series - Service was booked for the day after the MINI, but they allowed me to move this to Friday as I required at least one car. Brought the car in on Friday, all work was completed on time, and was kept well informed by the service advisor.

No issues whatsoever with the service this time around. It is a slight improvement at least. Even my phone calls were returned.

Don`t even get me started on Crowfoot service dept. Everything I had to say was said on another similar thread.

[quote=RS3TURN;3238133]I have written to BMW Canada, and have never received a response.

In my experience, letters get ignored (Suzuki - we had two of their vehicles, we now have zero). When I had the major electrical issue with my car, past warranty of course, I phoned MINI Canada/BMW. Within 10 minutes they had called the dealership to find out what was going on. I had told them that the service was excellent but that the car quality was questionable. There were several calls back and forth between the dealership and BMW as well as a couple of calls to me. I suggest calling and voicing your opinion, even though this time was not as big a nightmare. Companies have lost dealerships in the past because of poor service.

Bonus to a phone call - it's recorded.
