Talking MINI Cooper obsession moment

2008 Jan 14 | Mount Norquay, Banff, Alberta

So here's the MINI obsession moment I had yesterday:

Instead of music, I listened to the intoxicating sound of the intake deeply growling from hairpin to hairpin. The MINI perfectly agile and balanced with the rear sway bar set to stiff, and tire pressures staggered from to back to balance out the grip level. Only a flick of the wrist was needed to negotiate tight corners. What a great feeling it was to feel the car slip and slide on the wet and snowy roads The car's cornering attitude so instantly adjustable with a touch of trail braking or a bit of mid corner lift. Listening to the engine rev up and down while executing heel and toe downshifts into corners... a tuck of the handbrake to change direction instantly... What a blast!

Sometimes I think, I wish I had a quieter artistic type girlfriend, but I doubt those type of girls will enjoy the relatively... hmm shall I say, BRISK, way that I drive.

It's ok, my MINI likes it.

And I like taking pictures of it

what a beautilful picture! That corner, mountain at the back and the mini, perfect!

I should start learning all the driving techniques you mentioned!

Driving the mini is fun, but knowing more of what she can do and how to drive her would be 10 times better!

Great picture!! This is a great driving road but watch out for the wild life. An elk hood ornament would be no fun.

What a great way to spend some time.

That picture would be great on a calendar for all enthusiasts to enjoy.

BMW Club Advanced Driving school runs in May, and I strongly recommend it. Watch for the date announcement here; BMW Alberta Advanced Driving School

xtreme - Great photo. Glad to see you still have the MINI.

I am signed up for the Vancouver BMW club's Car Control course on Mar 15. Throw the car around a track in a safe, controlled but enthusiastic setting. See what 208 hp and JCW suspension (and me) can do.

March? We Albertans dream of having the track open in March. Have fun!

There has been a slalom event already and is another one at the end of January. We get to play all year round.
