Thumbs up First Clubman in Calgary

Ok, So I took delivery of the first Cooper Clubman in Calgary . A whole whoping 7kms on it too . Here are some initial thoughts compared to my 05 Cooper.

Outfitting:
- Convienence package (cruise, rain, and dimming mirror).
- Leatherette seats.
- Comfort Package - sunroof and heated seats
- Nightfire red with silver roof (need to add some bonnet stripes).
- Travel package (flat loading floor and luggage compartment package).
- Media Connect (bluetooth and USB connection).
- Bi-Xenon headlights.

With the above . . . how could I refuse

Improvements:
- 6 speed tranny. Gonna take a bit to get used to as the gearing seems different then the old one, i.e. the power is in different spots. Should definately help out on the highway.
- DSC standard over the ASC.
- 9 inches of length makes a BIG difference in space.
- Computer improvements. Although I am not sure about the whole integrated stereo thing, the new tach and computer stuff is quite nice. A good improvement there.
- 'Secret' dash compartment. This us uber cool.
- In floor rear storage, and seat tilting. Another neat improvement.
- Seems like a quieter ride. Make the powe a bit deceiving as there is not as much engine noise to tell you are going fast!
- 16" rims and run flats standard. Well maybe or maybe not an improvement.
- Single washer fluid tank. Takes a full 4 L jug.
- Turn single now shows which one is one!
- Third door - wow this is cool. I can even get in the back without tilting the front seat forward! really gonna make it easier to get the kids in and out.

Things not so happy about:
- The Sunroof DOES NOT AUTO OPEN! This feature I will miss. I now have to hold the button to open it all the way. Please let me know if this is a computer option.
- Well, that's about it for now . . .

Ok, here are some pics.

Congratulations - the photos look really good - I should get my Clubman S next week and can't wait to upgrade from my 03 Cooper. I saw my first one at the dealer last week and I have to say it looks way better irl than in photos.

Happy motoring - I'll let you know if my sunroof auto opens.

Ok, so got some more time on it. I'm sure a lot of the pluses with the clubman are the same for any of the gen 2 stuff.

Some more stuff I like:
- Mood lighting - that is just cool.
- Hill assist. Sort of weird not rolling back on a hill start with the standard. Works really well!

Something I havn't figured out yet though (dislike).
- On my 05, I had it setup to lock the doors when you started moving, and unlock them when you stop. It seems on this car, I can only set it up to lock while moving, but it doesn't unlock them. Any ideas on how to change that??

Otherwise, we got 100km on it now, well on our way to completing the break in!

Trevor,
According to the service foreman, the one-touch open on the sunroof can't be set currently due to a software conflict within the no-pinch setup, so the one-touch open/close is disabled until they can get the no-pinch working. A software revision is underway. I'm still trying to figure out if the key out/unlock is programmable from within the car.

Thanks for the reply Craig. I thought the sunroof may have something to do with the pinch stuff. Good to hear they may have a software upgrade some day.

Thanks for looking into this stuff!
Trevor.
