let's see...just hedging on why it might take over a month once the boat docks.

- Boat docks
- unload cargo
- car gets trucked to Transport Canada for inspection/certification
- car goes back to docks
- car gets loaded on train
- train to Montreal (?) transfer to train to western canada
- unload train in Calgary (whenever it gets there)
- sit there until MINI gets to it.
- dealer inspects car to make sure it's what was ordered.
- dealer prep (dealer may send out to detailer)
- dealer adds any dealer installed options
- salesperson finds time to book with customer to deliver car.

Looks like it might be awhile.....

Should I go for the full tint, or just the back windows?

My vote is for full, 30% Front, 20% back. Bare in mind though that the front tint is actually illegal.

Go pretty dark on the back, and I would say perhaps a little lighter on the front (50% maybe). The new cars seem to have a slight tint to them already (it appears so on my clubman anyway).

Just my thoughts

Well? Is it here yet? A friend of mine had ordered a BMW 5-series and it was due to arrive at the end of May. She picked it up last weekend. A month early!!!

I have a BRG coming and I was told end of April beginning of May. Can anyone tell me whether that shipment has arrived in Vancouver yet?

Which dealer did you go to? Time to get on your MA's case.

So were you camped out front then, when the delivery truck came in?

Better put together your checklist of things to lookout for before you drive your car off. My MA had a list of his own and still missed a few minor things.

Make sure you check that everything that's supposed to work is working. The dealer is very good at fixing things if you find them not working, but best to leave with everything working the first time. In the case of my car, the fan motor wasn't working and didn't realize it until it rained on my way home and I was unable to defog my windshield.

Also, I'm not sure about the R56 programmable options, but the R53 had lots of options that were dealer programmable. Get them set up the first time the way you want if you don't want the defaults. After you have your car awhile, the dealer tends to resist making changes. I'm still trying to get my follow-me home lights set to 90 seconds (default was 45 seconds) and my dealer claims the current software they use don't have provision to reset them.

I know this is going to be tough, but stay calm and cool and go over your car in detail. If something nit-picky is missed, it's going to be really annoying a few days down the road.

Enjoy the process....then get out there and LET's MOTOR!!! (ummm with a little restraint since your car needs a few kms of breaking in).

All the R56 programmable options are accessible to the owner through the turn signal stalk (follow-me-home, lane change indicator repeat, blah, blah).
Beken, they did change the software program for the R53 in the last year, but I recently had the programmable settings on my '05 changed here at MINI Crowfoot without problem (though I didn't have them attempt to change the follow-me-home). It could be a case of a misinformed service advisor (?)

I can see a day when GPS tracking is a feature of waiting for one's new mini to arrive, mapped onto google maps.

I ordered last year at the end of april and waited until mid-June, it was a lonnnnnnng wait for my mini cooper s convertible. And the worst part was that the sales rep NEVER called me back. Not once. And I don't think she knew how to email. Indeed, I don't think anyone at BMW or Mini know what email is, but that's another peeve.
