MINIsOnTop June 27, 2009

So I had this idea...

What if a bunch of us got together for a fun run in the wilds of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, had a bite to eat together and then climbed the Mt Washington Auto Road for sunset... Hmmmm....

OK - What's that? It's been done?
Yeah - But not to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the MINI

To mark the Golden Jubilee the 7th (!) annual MINIsOnTop has moved its base of operations to the Attitash Grand Summit Resort so you can turn a MINI adventure into a MINI vacation. Libby and Bill will be back with the now legendary Friday night trivia contest, Loon Mountain again opens their parking lot to us, Ivan is fine tuning a repeat of his fabulous DSL (Driving Skills 'Lympics) and, as always, the roads and uncertain weather of New Hampshire add their own dramatic twists.

So save the date - Saturday, June 27 for the main event and go to MINIsOnTop for all the details and to download the registration form.

I hope to see the contingent from the Maritimes again - The Lucky 13th registration has gone out already so it is safe to join in!

And these guys made it longer (but sounds like they had a great adventure):

We too have booked our hotel room and our registration is in the mail. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and also looking forward to the new location. I wasn't too impressed by T&C last year - they have done better in the past.

I've sent the information to MINI Moncton, but haven't heard anything from them. Being so close to this great event, I can't understand why they don't attend or tell other MINI owners about it. It would be great if they could experience the fun.

JCWCOMP62 - when do you think you will be heading through Saint John?

It's nice to know the contingent from the Maritimes will be more than 2.

We won't be on the road until Friday morning, June 26 (as early as I can get dear-wife up and at'em! ) If we're on the road by 7am, we should be passing through Saint John, NB by ~11am. Does this sync with your travel day/time?

Not sure when we are heading out, either Thursday after work or by 7:00 am on Friday morning. We will definintely be looking for you at the Hotel.

We only have the one night there and are heading to Portsmouth on Saturday, after the meal, for another commitment on the Sunday (Brian enjoys one NASCAR Race per year and it happens to be this weekend).

Safe Travels.....

Some updates from Grand Poobah Theo:

Friday (2/26) Event Updates

(Friday events take place in the MOTOR Room at the Attitash Grand
Summit Hotel)

1. Last year for MINIsOnTop 2008, New Country MINI “invented” a new
fun activity for MINI owners - "Sundae On Friday". Free ice cream and
toppings were served, and everyone enjoyed a delicious Friday evening
treat before the Pub Trivia Contest! This year, New Country MINI will
once again join us, and will again deliver delicious ice cream during
Sundae On Friday, 2009 edition. The event is tentatively scheduled for
7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

2. Also on Friday evening during MINIsOnTop, our excellent Cape Cod
MINIs' Pub Trivia Contest created by Libby & Bill will again be held.
Questions will be based on MINI/Mini facts and figures, movies and TV,
the animal world, North American sports, New England facts, and who
knows what else! Form your teams of 4 now! Registration with a
donation to MAW will open at 8:30 pm, with the Contest starting at
9:00 pm - so come at 7:00 pm for ice cream, and stay for the
challenge!

Saturday (2/27) Event Updates

3. Once again we are happy to announce that MINI of Peabody will be
supporting MINIsOnTop! This year, the dealership has stepped forward
to streamline Saturday morning by sponsoring a free BREAKFAST at the
Attitash Grand Summit hotel! This means that MINIsOnTop attendees can
get up Saturday morning from their luxurious Attitash Grand Summit
Hotel room and head down to a “banquet” at the hotel with everyone
else, then head over to Loon to join in the Saturday morning
festivities. The event is tentatively scheduled for 6:30 am to 8:00
am.

Here is the planned menu for Saturday morning:
- Chilled Orange and Cranberry Juice
- Freshly Baked Breakfast Favorites with Sweet Butter and Fruit
Preserves
- Country Fresh Scrambled Eggs
- Breakfast Potatoes
- Cinnamon French Toast with Warm New Hampshire Maple Syrup
- Your choice of Country Breakfast Links or Honey Smoked Bacon
- Also available, Tea & Coffee

Mmmmm! Delicious!
