Funny you should post this... I have #62... And am thinking of selling mine. With 32,000kms and mods, including JCW checkered flag mats, carbon fibre scoop/ dash / steering wheel inserts, shift light, checkered side mirror covers, plus lightweight flywheel, Hella 500s, engine damper, etc. I was thinking of asking $23,500... Not sure if that's too much or too little... I met the owner/proprietor of Miniac at MOT'11 recently and he pegged the Comps at $20k-$22k...

Hi, I'm in Vancouver and have #19 which is NOT for sale. #20 has been for sale for several months and has a LOT of add-ons. He is now asking $25,900. #18 is also for sale and has been for about a month. Asking $23,900. So, they aren't worth what they should be. Dealership offered me $14,000 cash for it in October so I figure they either have no idea what a Competition Edition is or would ask about $20,000 for it at the dealership. For comparison, Vancouver Craigslist also shows a GP (only available in USA. No idea how he got it into Canada.) for $13,000. !????! Hope this helps.

I hope this is not misconstrued in the wrong light, but...I think many of you are placing too much sentimental value on a vehicle that is now 5 years old - very evident in the technology of the car. This is arguably what makes it such a great vehicle, but unfortunately it is not a collectible, yet. People/dealers still view as any other used vehicle and if you separate yourself from it's rare numbers and features and look at it purely as a numbers game you'll find it's hard to justify that kind of money for a car just out of warranty or possibly on extended warranty - which, with a MINI, is never a something to look forward too. Just my 2 cents. Love the car, more so the GP, but having driven to review and for pleasure I would still take my R55 JCW for everyday driving anyway - only one in NA. It usually comes down to what suits one's lifestyle. Unfortunately a 5 year old 2 seated coupe for $25+ K is not on many people's hit list. Sadly. M

Your thoughts aren't misconstrued your post offers no real value though. I don't believe anyone is overpricing the vehicle here. I for one haven't priced mine yet. You are correct in that as a collectible it still needs more time, but noting they are: High Performance, Numbered and Unique means they've met the criteria for a future collectible. I think a clean example of this car should fetch a reasonable price whatever that may be. The only ones overpricing things are the dealers.

Ultimately sold prices are all that counts (unfortunately). I think he did offer you some value, but obviously its not what you want to hear. Most of us think our cars are worth more than they actually will currently sell for. Stick it up for what you want for it, be patient and see what happens, maybe with them being collectable its going to take a lot longer to sell one for true price. Dealers are dealers, nothing new there. Complete rip off merchants. Good luck with the sale. Keep it for longer if you want more money for it
