Some weeks ago i had contacted Mini Oakville (Budds BMW) to see if they were interested in hosting some meetings etc. here is their reply

"For "informal meets" If you want to have them on Sundays, you can take up the whole parking lot to meet up. We are going to try to have a few after hours "open houses" too where we will actually open the showroom for the meet and have coffee and what have you and we may come out for a drive as well. Keep in touch and we can work out some more details on this. Thanks!"

I am happy to act as the liaison with them if i get some indication of interest. Can anyone from around the general torornto post to this thread. HarryIndieBlue had a group of 6+ people talking so that seems like a good base to start from.

Thanks Charles! Vacation was nice and warm(went to Hawaii) and the surf was good. I am now nice and cold again though.

Sounds good, keep us posted with the date! There are a few more southern Ontario MINI owners not on mini2 that I'll try to remember to send email to when the time comes, as they asked to be kept in the loop for meetings.

great to see so many intersted people.

i would ask Jonh (who works at Budds) to check dates etc. I know they are buiding a new showroom etc for BMW and Mini so there may be some timing issues here. maybe we could do a garnd opening/homecoming thing

On the idea of including some US guys i saw a thread over the holidays for a meeting around Lake Placid and that would also be a great opportunity to do a big get together.

Your idea about lake palcid is a good one, But I personally would like to keep it in Canada. I have to deal with US Customs on a daily basis, for I work in the states. When it comes to personal time I prefer not to deal these people (US Customs). Have the Americans come to us, it would be cheaper for them to come to us than us go to them. Love to have them.

By the way where is Buds building the new dealership? On thet plot of land next to the Jaguar dealer?

I'm neutral on the cross border thing just thought it would be a nice location in the fall.

On the Budd's new site i think you are right. I believe there is a large vacant area just north of the hotel west of the Jag dealer.

I am sure that John at Buds can swing something in the near future. He may have to move one of the dispaly vehicles from the dealership show room, this sould give us plenty of floor space.

Lake placid in the fall I could probably swing it, I was thinking that the meet was going to be in the next few weeks then I would have to of declined. To much time off at christmas, have to catch up on work. They should do it when the leaves are changing that would be cool.

Just give me a time and I'll be there. I'm actually going to BUDDS tommorow. I haven't been on Mini2 much as of late. Having too much fun zipping around. I am glad to see there is something starting up in this area. There are too many MINI's around here to let all that comaraderie go to waste. Looking forward to swapping stories and finding out how to get the most out of our beautiful little machines. Until then...
