You'll want to be part of this event! Confirm interest to: rygold@MINIAC.ca and visit My Sharona =R= Here's the thread opener: MINI MEET: Northeastern US, Toronto to Montreal I will organize this event, if interest level is high enough. Target is 30+ cars. Let’s find out: A MINI Meet for Northeastern U.S., Toronto and Eastern Ontario, and Montreal area. Place: Ontario, Canada, motoring through: Kingston Wolfe Island Shannonville Motorsports Park Date, September 13 and 14th, 2003, Saturday and Sunday. Event Description: Saturday: -Arrive at the Howard Johnson’s, Kingston by 1 p.m. for official check-in and registration. -Journey aboard The Wolfe Islander (car ferry) for a 20 minute scenic boat ride to Wolfe Island. -”MOTOR The Island Event”: A 2.5 hour ride along wonderful twistys in a great, rustic island setting. The Island Tourist Board will accomodate us with “something special”. -Return by ferry to Kingston and Howard Johnsons late afternoon. The HoJo is located on the waterfront in beautiful downtown Kingston. Seethe hotel at http://www.hojo.ca -Free time! -Dinner at Comedy Cabaret in HoJo’s, followed by the evening at the Comedy Club. Sunday -If we move quickly, we can confirm the Shannonville track: 45 minute drive to Shannonville Motorsport Park for a daytime track event. That’s right - you driving your car, on a great track! Depart from Shannonville for home. -(if track not available): 4 hour day trip via the fun-filled highways of Eastern Ontario, returning to Kingston for departure home. Cost: Yet be be determined, but likely around $175 per person, depending on events. Price would include hotel accomodation (based on double occupancy) dinner and Saturday night Comedy Club, Shannonville track day (if available), and road tours. Destination Information: Kingston is located about halfway between Toronto and Montreal and is easily accessed from the United States. The Howard Johnson Hotel will be especially accomodating. If any MINI aftermarket vendors are interested, the HoJo would make a “trade-show” area available. If interest appears high enough I will attempt to attract some sponsors (to keep our mutual costs down). HoJo would also make a special rate available to anyone that wanted to arrive on Friday, or stay over Sunday. If you are interested send me an email to indicate your interest: rygold@MINIac.ca Let’s “MOTOR The Island”. Canada, eh? | MINI2 Master | Wolfe island is quite nice and very close to the states -- from the south end there is a tiny ferry (would hold 4 regular cars or perhaps 6 MINI Coopers ) and you can throw rocks at the states if you wanted to - not recommended from within view of the customs and immigration building though Nice roads there but can be very cool with the wind coming off the St. Lawrence so dress warmly for the time on the island if you plan to step out of your car. The ferry ride from Kingston is good, and on a much bigger boat. Good bass and perch fishing too if you have the time (spinners work well). The price sounds really good for all that is included. Another group setting up a day at Shannonville wants more than that just for the track day (but it includes in-car instruction, perhaps this one does not). I will check with my wife and let you know... The email bounces as presented but works as rygold@miniac.ca Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! | MINI2 Senior Derelict | I've got my name down in the MINICooperOnline thread but I figure I'd add my name here too. Harry, Gordon and I will drive out to Guelph and drag you to Kingston if you don't come. If this does go ahead it would be nice to arrage a meeting point in the GTA so that we can follow everyone down to Kingston. Paul |

Offline | Cool News Update! This is good: I found out last night that Wolfe Island has a "Boot & Bonnet" Club. Apparently it's a club of British auto enthusiasts. I'm going to draft them as our "Island Hosts". Oh boy, are they in for a surprise. Plus - the Secretary of the Wolfe Island Business & Tourism Association said in an email to me: "I can picture the Island abuzz with MINIs flying around!!". This is our kind of place! No word from BMW as yet. More to come..... rygold@MINIac.ca http://MINIac.ca |

| MINI2 Master | Actually, it is not a bad idea to inform the local police of the run. That way reports of 50 cars, identical but for colour and hood stripes, will not been seen as a massive MINI car theft ring making a run for the border. If you want to make them feel better you could also tell them that there is a separate track event planned for the weekend so the driving on the island will be an afternoon cruise, not a race.
