The MINI is on order, ETA mid June. Can't wait. I have not been this excited about buying a car since I was a kid. What is it about MINI's that drives us to such passionate extremes? Look forward to meeting like minded individuals this summer.

Hello lads,

I'm sure some of you already know about this, but for the benefit of those who don't I wanted to let you all know. FYI, this information is also posted on the SOMC website (www.somc.on.ca) under its own section. As some of you may know, there is a remake of the classic film THE ITALIAN JOB,starring our beloved new MINI's coming out towards the end of May (I believe May 30th is the exact day, but information is hard to come by and if anyone knows better, please correct me). I've proposed this to SOMC and there has been a good response. Essentially I would like to get as many MINI's out for a mass screening of THE ITALIAN JOB as possible. If we get enough people, and the price is right, I'd like to try to rent a theatre just for us and also have a section of the parking lot booked off so we can all park our cars together for a laugh and the general amusement of all. I'm oepn to any suggestions you may have, such as dinner before or after and anything else you can think of. If you'd like to come (and please feel free to bring family and friends - the more the merrier), also, MINI enthuasts who are either waiting for a car to be delivered, or don't have one but would still like to come are more than welcome. In order to get an idea of how many people are coming, can all those interested please email me at rcyc_walt@hotmail.com telling me how many are coming, and also if you are planning to bring your cars! Hope to hear from you all soon and lets try to get this off the ground.

Sounds like a good idea Walt. As long as the theatre is Mississauga or west I can be there. I did a thing or two at the AMC Theatres in Mississauga with an astronomy club for space themed films so they might be interested. An old retired school principal of mine was the manager when I last did something -- perhaps I'll see if he still works there.

That sounds promising, especially if you have someone on the inside that can help us out. I think we can manage a theatre out west of the city. I was thinking at 400 & 7, which I think is the same one that you're talking about. Ideally we want one with a parking lot that we can rope off so as to park all the MINI's together. Walt, your first going to have to find out what chain has the rights to the film, it might not be AMC. I'd call up th the head office for each chain, AMC, Famous, Odeon and explain to them what you are trying to do. May I suggest another thread to discuss this however.
