I'll try to keep an eye out for papers. The Flamborough Review won't be easy to pick up but I'll try... My parents get the Burlington papers so if they ask, "was that you?" I'll let you know...

Glad it seems like everyone had fun, even those that got lost. No harm, no foul. I feel better now. My bigger worry is that we may have lost a MINI owner or two from the next one. I hope that one guy's unhappy passenger is talking to him again...

That's right. Paul, the manager, said he'd rope off an area for us like a car show. Not sure he'd OK the BBQ though

I do agree with other comments on planning the next meet. I didn't know Burlington/Oakville at all (just moved here from the UK) and I was worried about losing the other Minis when they took off. I also didn't know about going to Kelsey's after the drive so I went back to the mini dealership with 4 other minis. I didn't even get a chance to take any photos

But it was agreat day. Next time I'd like more time to talk to other owners and get to know you all. Also I'd like to contribute to the forming of a S.Ontario club by designing a logo to go on our cars and various different colours to match our car colours. Working for a advertising agency I can get them printed cheaply. (I was a member of the GTI club in the UK and had a specific sticker so other would recognise you. )

Looking forward to the next one!!!

Okay forget about the BBQ idea. Pauls idea at Kelsey's was much better if he really can cordon off part of the parking lot for us.

Well, it seem like this thread and the meet has taught us quite a bit. To sum up here is what we have come up with:

Map of Route that we don't deviate from
Avoid residential areas wherever possible
Have at least a few cars with FRS radios, the more the better
If you're not sticking around for the full drive let the car behind you or infront of you know
Keep it safe, let's not endanger ourselves or others along our route
Have Fun

I think if we can hold outselves to the above future meets won't have the small hickups we had this time. It was our first large scale meet, last meet only had 4 cars.

It might also be nice to get someone with another car to ride lead, they could even video tape all the MINIs out the back window. Obviously this would have to be someone without a MINI.

We have two long weekends coming up. Easter in April or how about May 24th weekend? This one most likely would be the best to organise something. It usually is warm then.
Plenty of time to get our acts together.

When were you at the dealership? How long did you wait? It isn't far from Kelsey's and now I wonder if we should have stopped by the dealer first. Water under the bridge now...

, you proved your a good driver so I've got to prove I'm a good navigator!!! If they plan a meet on the 24th, I know we have a rally that weekend. I just don't know my way around, well, anywhere! So when I lost you guys a just followed the next Mini I came across, 3 Cooper S's, gave my engine a good workout. I had my cellphone with me but I didn't know your number. So from the dealership I went home and the others went to McDonalds

A lot of good suggestions all 'round. You guys restore my faith in humanity.

Perhaps (and this is merely a suggestion) the next meet would be better in the East End to be fair to the people out there? I live in Mississauga, so it's no great hike for me either way.

The only problem with the east end is that it's 100% grid layout for the streets. Granted that would solve the problem we had this time with putting our foot down a little too much.

How about a meet on May 24th weekend or Easter weekend? It will give us plenty of time to get our acts together.
I do not mind the east end. Maybe there is a kelseys or caseys that we can take over.

Hey there guys, had a great time yesterday and I really like the idea of doing a show 'n' shine at the Kelseys. Another thought might be to get in touch with some people with old Mini's and see if they want to participate too. I bet we could get a pitcher or two of beer out of Kelseys with the people that would drop in!
I'm also into the idea of having some kind of Southern Ontario Club...a nice discreet decal across the back of the spoiler would look pretty cool.

I've attached a picture here, and hope to have more up on the site soon. I would like to point out one thing though, perhaps before pictures get posted, could people please blur, or cut out any legible licence plates? With the whole 'locals getting ****ed' vibe, it might not be a bad idea to not give people somewhere to look.

Anyway, had a blast...I've only had my Cooper for a month, and it was cool to finally start driving it like it was intended!

Think about where you want to hold the next one ,east and west end. I understand that people come from oshawa and whitby but we must keep in mind the people in Niagara falls Guelph and St Catherines etc. It may very well be back at the the original haunt Mini Oakville. As I mention two long weekends are coming, this may be a good time to do it. So lets think about it.

As requested I've painstakingly gone through each picture and where the license was visable I've blured them out.

I must admitt that I've never fully understood the level of paranoia that people put on their license plate, it's on the back of your car for everyone to see! If the locals started to poke around it wouldn't take them long to find this site and then this thread. At the last MINI meet (4 cars) on the way back home I (Jayomatic was riding shotgun) stumbled across a Civic club, something like 25-30 cars. I was having fun with them, it took me two days to find out which club in Toronto it was, join their forum and get to know them, nice bunch of guys. Not exactly a case that would stump Columbo.

Actually, at one point someone asked if MiniMan7 came, and I said that it was me. Anyone remember talking to me that I don't know who it is?

Then a few comments were made about an Italian driving a British car...

I'm all for May 24th. If we begin planning now we won't step on any travel/camping plans. At least not too many. After reading these posts I am even more jealous I couldn't make it. Im very impressed that many Mini owners showed up. We love our MINI's don't we... Nice of Kelseys to offer up the parking lot. If that is the case we should definately take advantage.
