I've setup a website were we can post the pics, that way we don't have to fill this thread with so much stuff. Check out http://mini.spider.org/ if you have pics you'd like to uplaod just let me know and I'll create you an account. Feel free to upload the full size pics that way if there are ones to print you can grab it and don't have to ask. The site will automatically scale them for you. I've already given Aircanuck and nwoodiwiss and account and I've uploaded the junk pictures I took. However, the little video I got wasn't bad, it's up their too.

Perfect! Had a great time. Wish I could have joined you guys for a bite to eat. O well, next meet I guess. It is nice going to a meet with my own car for once! haha.

I had some fun later in the day at the airport. I forgot how twisty the roads at the airport are. I must have taken 4 laps around the airport trying different terminals and routes just for the fun of it. Lots and lots of twisties! We should have our next meet there!

Talking Fantastic time.

I had a fantastic time we will have to do it again in the spring. This time we will have route map just in case someone gets lost.

The person that was nicked for speeding, what was the damage of the ticket? Was he/she able to talk there way out of it?

Harry was telling me that a driver skidded on the road when he went over some snow was there any damage done to the car?

We had a great time folks, Nice to see that people brought there partners and babies. Hope they had a good time too.

Cheers

Charles

Wow, someone was nicked for speeding? Where??? On the way home I assume? They could have made their quota if they'd been parked at the right spot.

The news of someone skidding was 2nd-hand as I was leading the pack but I heard of someone (maybe even Miniman7?). I hope everyone came out unscathed (speeding tickets included).

Sorry I lost some of you at my impromptu stop at Lasalle Park. Thought it might be a good photo spot and washroom break and with 10 MINIs behind me I thought we had all of them but obviously some got caught at a light. Minimc raced out and (unbelievably) caught up with many of those that went by but I apologize to those which never caught up with us again. Hope you got home alright and we'll definitely want to plan the route beforehand and provide a map for next time.

Hope everyone had fun. I sure did! Can't believe how many MINIs we had out there. Snake road was (almost too much) fun as usual. Couldn't shake Minimc's black MCS but then noticed no others behind him after a while...

We'll have to do another meet when the snowtires are off and the salt is gone. Washing my car two days in a row, what's up with that???

When I finish my roll of film and develop and scan it, I'll post some pics. Did get the fisheye out which is one thing film cameras are still good for (just look up the price for a 180 degree fisheye lens on a professional digital camera!).

Might just be me but I couldn't get the movie to load.

What is the last "those left behind" picture about?

Strange Harry, it works for me. Anyone else have trouble downloading the video from http://mini.spider.org/ it should open in MediaPlayer. I'm on version 8.0 which is what comes with Windows XP.

Sorry I had to jet before I could make it to Snake Rd. I had some "domestic duties" to attend to...

Great turnout for the first real meet though. Can't wait for some warmer weather!

Answers? I've got answers... The chap who was pulled over by the cops was the gent in the yellow mini who works up at Waterloo BMW/Mini. His name escapes me at the moment, good guy, he'll be registered here soon. They got him for 100 in a 50, but let him go with a warning, as he was very polite. He told him to get with the rest of us and tell us to slow it down. I don't remember anyone spinning out, but I got darn close. The locals were getting pretty uspest with us apparently. Someone got upset enough to huck snow at Humourl3ss's car.

As for the "Those left behind picture" There was 5 of us who got separated from the group. Some of us then just went to Mcdonalds That's my version of a guilt trip

Count me in for the next one.

I'd say for the next one we've got to get a few cars with FRS radios. A quick check of www.futureshop.ca shows that you can buy a single Audiovox for $29 with pairs costing as low as $49.99. I know that some people already have these. The various Civic clubs in Toronto use these all the time. At least if the leader, a middle person and the last person had an FRS radio we most likely would have remained together today. If we all had them it would have been great, as long as we didn't try to chat.

I wish I could have been there. What was initially estimated at a week has now ballooned into three to four week repair job. I was told the waiting for parts story. No doubt it is the truth. I'm sure there isn't a large stockpile of spare parts to be found anywhere. Found out late last night my friend with his own Mini wasn't going to be able to make it so (with out a ride) I just stayed put. Where did the drive take everyone... Is Snake road that great run off the escarpment at the top of Appleby? Looks and sounded like a blast. I'm jealous. I'll just have to wait paitiently until the Spring meet. Perhaps we'll get an even bigger turn out when the weather is better.

Oh shoot, not good making the locals mad. That's never a wise idea. The next time a Cooper comes by they might call the police so we'll have to avoid that run for a while or resist the urge to take it so fast (it is tough though, as 50km/h feels really slow). I'll give the guy from MINI Waterloo a call, I know him. Hope I didn't PO too many of the MINI owners...

FRS radios would be a good idea. Silly thing is I already have an FRS Radio, the cheap Audiovox model mentioned. It works quite well (except that outside in the cold sometimes it thinks static is signal level for some reason, some component must be going off spec) and has a hands-free VOX mode so you don't even need to take your hands off the wheel. Definitely a good idea for next time.

Snake Road is in Waterdown so it is down the escarpment off Waterdown Road, not Appleby; you are thinking of the 2nd Sideroad area. There are generally good roads all around the escarpment and by the sound of things we'll want to switch to another one for next time

Harry

As AirCanuck mentioned, someone ahead of me had peeved off a local lady enough that she tried to shovel a scoop of snow onto my car as I passed by.

I had fun, but please guys, take it slower next time. I like spirited driving as much as the next guy (under the right circumstances, of course), but having members getting tagged by the police doesn't do us any favours.

I love the FRS radio idea paulmon suggested.

See you all at the next meet!
