Offline | It's All My Fault I'm writing this to apologize for the appalling weather in SW Ontario since the weekend - it's my fault - I took my snow tires off in preparation for a track day on the 17/18th My wife told me not to but . . . On monday when I left to drive to the commuter train at 6:45 I became very aware of the talent and courage of anyone who drove through Winter without 4 snows. First red light I ease into the brakes and me and my MCS sail into the intersection - ABS chattering its fool head off, DSC lit up like it was helping - like a small version of the Titanic. I beeped my horn (I'd like to say blasted but it is a little anaemic) flashed my lights and part way through got off the useless brakes and drove carefully on out the other end. Big sweaty way to begin the day but it does cut down on the need for caffine. Last night the freezing rain started and I left my baby in the driveway this morning. Now my dilemna is do I put snows back on tomorrow and then take them back off again next Friday night or leave them off and delay Spring by another two weeks aka KWKSLVR Member: Southern Ontario MINI Club BMW Club of Canada - Trillium Chapter |

| Let's Motor. | Hmm... if you really have to go places, my advice is put the snows back on. I really don't rely on my Mini to get me anywhere when it snows, hence I don't need winter tires. But better safe then sorry. ![]() -MiniMan7 P.S. I forgive you for bringing the snow! ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior Derelict | I Knew it! I knew someone must have recently taken off their snows! I've been looking for you all over the GTA Gordon and wouldn't you know, I found you! I took my snow off 3 weeks ago so it wasn't me who upset the balance, too much time between that and actually getting bad weather. ![]() hehe... Paul |

Offline | I'm not sure if this is all your fault, I think I'm partly responsible, because I took my snows off as well. To make matters worse, I put my track tires on my snow rims, so I don't have the option of returning to snows. I'm supposed to go to Shannonville on Monday...waddya think? Offline | I have always preferredto have the two sets of rims just because I can change tires my self also mounting and unmounting tires is probably bad for them. if i was a betting man I'd say only winter rally driving will be done at Shannonville on Monday. aka KWKSLVR Member: Southern Ontario MINI Club BMW Club of Canada - Trillium Chapter |

| MINI2 Master | My MINI dealer has a track day at Shannonville this weekend but I wonder if they can cancel it. Does the track offer refunds? I still have winter tires on my MINI but the door locks stopped working yesterday (thinks the driver's door is open, window won't go up and leaves the dome light on) so I had to drive home yesterday in a Ford Taurus rental on all seasons. I just hope the get the part in today with all this ice! Otherwise I'll have to wait until next week... Oh well, at least our family wagon still has snows on it. Not sure we'll be going to the Elmira Maple Syrup festival tomorrow though. I'll need a chipper to get the syrup off my pancakes in the outdoor tents! Someone I know put summers on Monday like you Gordon. And then he bought new summer tires yesterday so he may really be the person to blame (not naming names though). | MINI2 Regular | Re: It's All My Fault I guess I'm to blame too. I have had my summers on for at least 2 weeks now and on Thursday morning was faced with a decision that many WRC teams contend with; tire choice. I spent 30min. on Thursday morning putting my snow combo back on the car just to be safe. At 15h00 I was thinking it was a total waste, but by 16h30 it was evident that I made the right choice. I'm now begining to worry about our Mosport weekend on the 12th & 13th. Hopefully all this CRAP will be gone in time for some serious driving. ![]() |

Offline | Well, I've been running on the summer tires since I picked up my car earlier this winter. Ginger driving, and the fact that the treads are fresh have served me well to this point (before I get a flood of email, I WILL be getting winter tires for next winter.) This morning acting against all rational thought, I ventured into work. However, I had to first almost shovel the entire driveway in order to move the Mini enough so that I could get my wife's Niva out (the smart one, she stayed home)...for those who don't know, a Niva is a Russian 4x4 with about the same wheelbase as the Mini. Even getting off my street in the Niva with the diff locked, and in low range proved to be an adventure. I'm hoping a good portion of this is gone for Monday so that I can get back in the Cooper without taking any risks! Steve 2002 Pure Silver and Black Cooper |

| MINI2 Master | Don't take all the blame, I took off our snow tires on March 29th, and have been worried since. It snowed lightly on Monday, and Tuesday. Thursday got pretty bad, and the wife was driving it to and from work. But the storm that hit us Thursday around 5pm was something else entirely. Freezing rain, ice pellets, then snow. It's tough walking out there, nevermind driving. I haven't even attempted venturing out on Summer rubber, that'd be a one-way trip into a body-repair shop. They call for more of this tomorrow. Guess we're walking everywhere. But I didn't jump the gun that much. Hell, all of the salting and ploughing contracts are up March 31st, which is part of the reason it's such a mess out. All of the contracted equipment is gone, and only city owned equipment is out there. The airport is as much of a laugh, the de-icing equipment was apparently put away, and they didn't order any more de-icing fluid. They've ordered some more from Chicago, if it gets here on time. I think it's pretty safe to say, a lot of people took snow days. Too bad I walk to work. All in all, I'm doing pretty well. This is the first actual day we were stranded in the MINI. Pretty good for a low-slung sports car, in a winter like we've had... Chilli Red/White Cooper S, Sport Pack & Sunroof. Delivered June 12th, 2002!Now with MCS Winter Tire Package. |

Offline | Now come on guys!! You call yourselves CANADIANS? A little bit of ice and snow and you won't drive just because you took your snows off! Come on, the MINI dosen't really need them. I have put over 15,000 km on my S this winter, and that is running on the stock 16" run flats! I think I would like to do that track day in the snow!! Now that sounds like fun! Ya gotta give that DSC a good workout now and then. Andy. Liquid Yellow Cooper S. Sunroof, Mulifunction Wheel, Climate Control, Heated Seats, DSC, Fog Lights,Xenon Head Lights, Trailer Hitch. |

| MINI2 Senior Derelict | Aren't the stock 16" runflats all-season tires? Most of us here have the stock 17" Pirelli eufori@ that are pure 100% summer tires. Anyone venturing out in those the last couple of days diserves what they get. Luckily I started working from home as of last Monday and didn't have to go anywhere for work on Thursday and Friday. If I'm in real trouble I can always take the wife's Toyota Rav4. Paul |
