| MINI2 Regular | Has anyone paid less than MSRP? I am going to be ordering my mini in a couple months. I figure I will wait till October so that I can get a 2004 model one. Has anyone in canada paid less than MSRP? Is there any room at all to haggle? Am I just wasting my time thinking I might be able to get a bit of a deal. Also, what's with the $1500 freight/destination charge? I know for volkswagen's, it's $550, so I'd like to know where the other $950 comes from. Thanks! -Steve |

| Now With More Cowbell | Nope, no discounts here. If you're holding out for a 2004, I'd wager there's even less of a chance for a discount. As for the freight issue, I believe all small Dubs (Golf/Jetta/Beetle) sold in North America are now built in Mexico and Brazil. It's cheaper and shorter to ship by rail than by sea and rail, so that might explain the price discrepancy. -CW Global Moderator |

| MINI2 Master | There were deals on the last 2002's they sold in December and January but on a new order I doubt you'll get any deal. If you pick one up off the lot then you might get a deal depending on where you are (MINI Waterloo has quite a few on its lot right now). Waiting for the start of a new model year is no way to swing a deal -- the end of a model year is where you have leverage. As for the freight & PDI charge, they can charge what they like and you take it or leave it. I doubt they'll itemize it for you. Saabs come from Sweden and they have $990 freight on them so MINI is expensive but if you want one, you want one. Offline | I was charged $1295 for Freight & PDI. (Montreal, Quebec) I also paid MSRP. And I got a free MINI key chain, cheapskates. But MINI Laval offers floor mats for free, I wonder if every dealer does that. MINI Cooper Feb'03 built |

| MINI2 Master | I actually paid $1195 freight and PDI at MINI Waterloo, but plus $129 admin fee. Some have lower admin fees but higher F&PDI. I got two sets of two key chains (first Bimmers then MINIs), floormats and MINI pen. Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! | MINI2 Master | I think floormats should be included. The pant saver ones are not but at least carpet mats should be included, though Suzuki was notorious for not including them and still didn't on the Aerio when I saw shopping. Oh, and I got MINI mints too. Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! Offline | I paid $4000 below MSRP for a 2002 in February of this year, had to take one off the lot, but got pretty much what I would have ordered. It was a deal I couldn't pass up. I got the carpeted floor mats, a keychain, Mini mints (which have since grown crystals on them...this concerns me), and my salesman threw in a ballcap as a bribe to give him a good review to Mini Canada. ![]() Steve 2002 Pure Silver and Black Cooper |

Offline | I got mine cheap! I bought mine from a girl who won it from a radio station. She didn't like it. I offered her $15,000 for it, and she accepted. I picked it up from the dealership and it went directly in my name. It is Indy Blue, black top and mirrors, has the Luxury and Sport packages, and chrome inserts. I may have paid less than anyone in the world ![]() Attached is a pic of my car shortly after I got it. -Karridy |

Offline | Girl right here at work won one too. It's CR/W w/US flag on the roof. Not sure what packages it has on it, but it does have the R90 wheels and aero kit. She likes it though (at least she has indicated she does). I think she said her mom put her name in the drawing, and the ticket cost $50. Of course, she had to pay taxes and the tag and title fees, so she probably had to pay $5k - $7k for it. I guess she has one of the cheapest MINIs out there ![]() |
