Hi!

There is a MINI rallye at the Hippodrome de Montreal May 19th and 20th (the 19th is Victoria day) between 9am and 4:30pm.

You get to drive someone else's MINI really roughly yeeeeeeeehah!!

Call 514-703-6464 to submit your name. They'll ask for your name, phone number, and driver's license #.

LEt me know if you guys are going, I'm there for 3:45pm on the 19th.

What type of driving is it at this rally? Do you just drive around a course in the parking lot there at Blue Bonnets? I signed up as well but I am not sure what I will be doing when I get there!?! Also, who is sponsoring it? I couldn't make out the name the girl said when she answered the phone.

Also, how did you first find out about it? Did a dealer let you know? I only knew that something was happening becuase I drive by there every day.

They announced on Mix96, and it's organized by BMW MINImania. It's funny you should ask where you actually called, I just asked her the same question today, and she said "BMW office", whatever that means, in an almost surprised voice. I guess the arrogance is propagated everywhere in that company

As for the Rallye thing, on the radio, they said you would go through mud and things like that.

Well, there's mud on the horse racing track, so maybe we will be racing on there!

Anyway, should be fun. It will be nice to abuse someone else's MINI in ways I would never treat my MCS. Thanks for posting it here or I wouldn't have known about it until too late.

They had a nice course set up and there were some really tight turns and manouvers (the only problem was there were only MINIs and not Cooper S's)

. A friend came with me (he doesn't own a MINI), so we had a blast.

If you hear of any other events, please post them here and I will do the same. Sorry you missed it.

So how long was the course? Was it really through mud and obstacles?

The course was from the tent they had set up to down close to the Walmart, so you could wind the car out in 2nd gear but no more really. There was no mud but they had some really tight turns, hairpins, lane changes...

It was really fun to push the car and listen to the tires squeal. A good time.
