Offline | British Columbia - ICBC Rates for MINIs higher? Hello, I picked up my new '04 Silver MCS in Novermber 2003 and almost fell over backwards when ICBC quoted me $4500 per year as a base insurance rate (Bus. use, $3m liability, Roadstar). Thank god I have a 45% discount. Apparently '04's have been 'recatagorized' for 2004 and as such, the rates have gone up considerably. Still $2500 per year still seems high. I am curious to know what other are paying in BC. Thanks! |

Offline | Icbc Mine netted down to 1300 with roadstar. That was for $300 deductible collision, comprehensive and 2million liability. Roadstar with the max (45%?) for my new cooper s (2004) I am in Victoria, could Vancouver be way more expensive? |

Offline | The original quote of my Cooper is a bit more than 4k. I was as astonished as you were when I got my license plate I got my 45% discount as well, luckily.I *think* the ICBC now includes your age as part of the formula to calculate the rate, so if you are >=25 or having a good record, you are more likely to have better rates. My friend recently told me that Civic and RSX are having the most expensive quotes - in its class I guess. I remember the RSX is way over 5k ![]() |

Offline | I'm paying $3300/year, that's WITH a 20% discount that I've accumulated since I've been driving. Originally I think I was quoted somewhere in the area of just under $4000! It's still quite a bit I guess. |

Offline | Mr Grean Phone Canadian Direct IMMEDIATELY!!! They are MUCH cheaper than ICBC...plus deductables are much lower too. I pay much less than $400 a year for CDI, they give you $2 mill liability for free and I just take the ICBC minimum $200,000 coverage. I had been using Family Insurance for 2003 but when their cost went up 80% ,...that's right 80% (due to 9-11 etc. or so they said) in one year, I called CDI. I have another car and a motorcycle and my house insurance with them..so that makes a difference...and I got rebates on both my other vehicles as well when I insured the Cooper S with them. |
