| MINI2 Senior Derelict | MINI on Tuner Transformation on SPEED channel Well, as it turns out I was selected to participate in that new TV show "Tuner Transformation." The format is pretty simple. They know what I use the car for, they take that into account, however they don't tell me what mods they're going to be doing until they reveal the car to me at the end. This way they get my reaction etc. So I could end up with a purple car with pink polkadots but I could also end up with a great autocross/performance car. Think of it like one of those home decorating shows like "While you were out" except for cars. The episode will be airing on Speed channel Tuesday March 30th at 7pm EST. I've got the car back but cannot post pictures etc of the car or discuss it. Watch the episode! They just did a Ford Focus with a $10,000 budget. The Focus got the following mods: Turbo Water to Air Intercooler Body Kit Big Brakes LCD Screen Play Station Painted stock wheels darker to match car better. I'll post a follow up on the 30th to discuss. Cheers, Paul |

Offline | My thoughts as well - his initial reaction was not exactly what you'd expect from a full JCW conversion. Those wheels look great though! The show started out on a downer with 2 out of the 3 tuners not caring very much for the "BMW" Mini. Still, Paul's got himself a seriously nice Cooper! |

Offline | When are the reruns for this show? I'm in US Central Time and just figured out what channel SPEED is on the cable system (okay, so I don't watch much TV). |

| MINI2 Senior Derelict | I posted in the Canada forum but I'll limit the rest of my replies to this thread... I already had close to JCW power with my Pulley, Intake, Magnaflow so that didn't thrill me, granted my warranty is back and my car is now worth a ton more money. The LSD makes quite a difference at launch. I challenged a friend the other day, had pulley, intake, exhaust, ecu and throttle body. Was two car lengths ahead before shifting into second but didn't extend my lead beyond that and didn't loose ground either. I love my diff, couldn't you tell. The graphics are growing on me. The H&R springs are too low for my autocross rubber (Kosei K1 Racing with Victoracers) so they're going back to stock. The JCW Wheels are nice, don't need them, offers? ![]() Paul |

Offline | Yeah, that's what I was thinking. They really thought they were going to blow you away with the JCW, but you already had some form of most of that done! I had to laugh when the girl at the end kept saying something about "Aren't you pysched? You've got a supercharger!" Like she didn't even know the car had one the day it was bought! I was kind of disappointed that they didn't extend themselves more creatively in what they did. Not saying that this show should be like "Monster Garage", but they just seemed to cop out a bit by going with the JCW. Ideally, what would you have liked to see done? Are you leaving the vinyl graphics on? I am NOT trying to be a downer about this. I really enjoyed the show. And I'm sure you're not complaining! |
