Offline | Longest Mini Dragon Event Hey everyone, I heard from some people, and I've checked it out on the website (www.minimania.com) that there's a world record attempt happening next saturday, July 24th right here in Vancouver! Apparently they're trying to round up as many Mini's, classic and new, to make the "Longest Mini Dragon". Where and When: Saturday, July 24th, at 7pm on the 100-200 block of Keefer St. (Vancouver ChinaTown Night Market) For more details, go to http://new.minimania.com/EventDetail...98&InfoID=1775 I tried emailing the contact (Diamond Liu) at the bottom but that email address is incorrect supposedly. I'm trying to get more info, but we should round up as many Mini2er's in the area and set us a record! Anyone interested? |

Offline | that's true, but I would assume that they would have some kind of organization going on that would allow all Mini drivers to get some kind of "special" access. I'm sure there will be people there waiting for us...or at least I would assume from what I've heard, they would need about 200 cars...that could be totally wrong...but I think it would be great fun! Apparently they will give each person something saying that you participated in a world record. |

Offline | reconsidering after seeing the other post on how close it is to the world record...wonder if our names get to go into the world record book? would be a shame to fall 1 mini short of the record. |

Offline | hey HIDMini, if you're reconsidering, you need to register. Check out the website I posted earlier, you need to talk to the guy and he'll email you a registration form that you need to fax back to him so he can give you a number. I'm #191, so that means that there's at least 190 OTHER Mini's taking part! You get a certificate and stuff after it's completed saying you took part in the Guiness World Record Event. I think that's pretty cool! And plus, the first 200 or so odd people to sign up get free "memorabilia"...don't know what it is, but it sounds cool. ![]() |

Offline | Thank a bunch you guys!!! FYI, I'm no# 111, and will be one of the radio volunteers at this event (7-8 of us will be in radio communication with the event organizers, making sure that all the MINIs/Minis stick together.) By the way, even though we are now above 200 cars, there's still really no margin for error. Have you ever gone to a event or seminar, or even a hockey game, that was advertised as beling sold out, but there were still empty seats, or empty sections? That's right, there's no guarantee that everyone who registered will actually show up. If we have 200 cars signed up, and 10% don't show up, that's 20 cars less, and we only have 180 cars. You can see the potential problem. Usually, 90% attendance is great, but not in this case. If we have 15-20% no-shows, we don't have a world record attempt. So - the more the merrier, literally!! And if we have a 100% attendance rate, then we truly have a magnificent world record. So please, even if we have enough cars, and you have signed up but are having second thoughts, stand fast and show up. WE NEED YOU ![]() |
