Offline | Update:WORLD RECORD - 195 Minis/MINIs at The Longest MINI Dragon!! *** NEWSFLASH ** WE DID IT!! On Saturday evening, July 24, in the Chinatown district of Vancouver, BC, Canada, history was made when an official tally of 195 Minis and MINIs were tabulated, breaking the previous world record of 171 cars for the most number of Minis/MINIs participating in a parade. Like I predicted, due to a combination of various factors, which included no-shows and cars that weren't registered properly, we had around 250 cars that were 'registered', but in the end only 195 were counted officially. That was almost 21% of 'no-shows' from the total number! Congrats and well-done to all who attended, it was loads of fun, especially where we had the city streets to ourselves, going through red lights with impunity (with the blessing of the law, of course) I will post the pics I took of the event, later today!!! Those who attended, feel free to post your pics in this thread too /high fives everyone who attended __________________________________________________ _____________________ Hello all, Thought I would update all of you who live in the Lower Mainland of BC with what's going on tomorrow (thanks LittleD for posting news of the event here!) We are not quite at 200 cars, but have enough to *just* break the current world record, which stands at around 170 Minis/MINIs. As it stands, we need every single MINI/Mini we can get. A couple of no-shows, and it will all be for naught. That's how nail-bitingly close we are to actually breaking the record. To sum it up - we need every single old Mini/new MINI car that hasn't signed up for the event yet! So, if you haven't signed up yet, but own a Mini and can make it to Chinatown Saturday evening - WE NEED YOU If you can sign up, please do so ASAP. Here's a link to detailed info about the event: http://www.vancouverminicooperclub.com/mini_dragon.asp Here's the link to get the registration form: http://www.vancouverminicooperclub.com/press_releases/reg_%20form.pdf The organizer's (Diamond Liu) email address is longestminidragon@shawcable.com , and his phone number is 604-682-8998. So, if you are free tomorrow evening and can actually make it to this event, sign up!! I will be there, as will a good portion of the Vancouver MINI Cooper Club, and the Vancouver Mini (classic) Club. Make a (world record) difference!!! ![]() Last edited by milliethemini : Jul 25th, 2004 at 08:18 PM. Reason: We did it!! 195 cars, shattering the previous world record |

Offline | Hey everyone! CONGRATULATIONS everyone who attended the event! It was an amazing sight to see all those Minis come out! I don't think I've used my horn that liberally before It was great fun and excitement, and if you didn't make it out this year, apparently I hear they hold one every year, so catch it next time around! I'll definitely be there next year if they try it again! Good times, good times had by all!~ Darren |

Offline | The mini parade was really cool , however, I was surprised that it really was not a guiness event as there were no guiness record people there. It was actually a promotion for the chinatown nite market. Oh well, the turnout was nuts anyway! |

Offline | Hey cliffywong, if you look at the post by Snowman, you'll see in the last picture, that yes, Mini's filled up both sides of the bridge. A magnificent view to behold I was wondering, I did hear that this was not a "Guinness" World Record, but on the window sticker that they handed out to every participant...why does it say "Guinness World Record" on the bottom of it? Possibly a typo? Possibly they wanted it to be, but it wasn't one in true fact? ... weird. |
