Offline | XM/Sirius Satellite Radios I'm going to the US in a few weeks and was wondering if could by an XM or Sirius Satellite radio, bring it back to Canada and have it installed on my MCS. Can I buy the service upfront and use it successfully in Canada? Has anyone done this before? (Last) 2004 MCS IB/BL |

Offline | Not sure you need a technician to install it,i'm thinking Velcro, plug to lighter, adapter to cassette player satellite reciever on dash (more Velcro).Although i have heard that if you only have a cd player installation is a bit more complex.PS dont have a Mini yet but as soon as the Miata is paid off its trade for Mini time . |

Offline | Which one did you get? where did you buy it? how did the install go? I'm going into best buy to get a Delphi skify 2 for 169USD on monday. Scoped out other stores, BestBuy seems to have the best deals. (Last) 2004 MCS IB/BL |

Offline | Got the Delphi Skyfi2 in Plattsburg N.Y from a place across the street from the mall called Alpha Stereo,He had many units and was very familiar with the system Delphi Skyfi2=$99us Car adapter=$69us 2yr subscription=$214us Although the install is easy i now have many wires that i have to think about hiding, if i ever bought another unit i would think about a professionally installed dash unit (Delpi Commander),Also taking the unit with you every time you leave the car is a bit of a bother The activation took about 10 min.Sound is excellent, the whole system was a bit pricey but well worth it i think .It is somewhat distracting to driving when you first get it because you keep fiddling with it,Let me know what you get and how you like it MiniByblos ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for your feedback. What wires are you talking about? didn't you use the wireless FM modulator? I'm using the standard boost CD radio and i'm not planning on having any additional wires running from the radio to the unit, only the antenna and reciever in the boot. (Last) 2004 MCS IB/BL |

Offline | The antenna wire is very long and i havent figured where to put the access yet,got a wire coming from the cigar lighter and another coming from the cassette player, and everything plugs into the conspicuous cradle that sits prominantly on the dash, The wire to the cassette could probably be replaced with the FM modulator but havent figured how that works yet,and for the moment its installed in the wifes Toyota Echo, that will change when my baby comes out in the spring. |

Offline | If you want a professional unit, and you have a 2003 or newer car, just get the XM direct kit. It uses the Sirius compatibility of the stock head unit, so there's nothing hanging out, you plug in the box into the right rear trunk compartment, and put an antenna somewhere, and you've got XM. It may not have all the exciting control options that a standalone unit has, but its a much cleaner integration, and most people who have it love it. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |
