Offline | Possibly buy Mini Cooper S I've been to the dealer yesterday to check the Mini's. I will change my car in the spring. I like the Cooper S. The dealer told me that the car is maintenance every 24 000km. Is it right? Is the maintenance cost of the car high? I mean how much can I expect to pay every oil change and maintenance? Also I like the bodykit for the Cooper. I've check on the website and it's say 1915$. But on another thread here I've saw somebody that said the bodykit is around 3000$. Major difference, who is right? Anything I should know before I buy a Mini Cooper S. I would buy it at Mini Brossard. Let me know any information that would be helpful. Thanks. |

| MINI crazy! | MINI are great cars!! But since it is a BMW product, maintenance is a bit expensive. The first service cost me around 250$ and it is only an oil change... It is also true that intervals are around 25000km. I've motored 75000km in my MCS and I would buy another MINI right away if it was to be done again!! Now, get out and go buy your MCS! ![]() |

Offline | Wow a bit expensive like you said. What is the maximum price that you paid for maintenance. I know that around 50 000 km cars need a bigger maintenance and change some parts. So the price should be around 500 I guess. Also for the price of the bodykit who's right? 3000$ for a bodykit is really high. Is that really the price. Also can we buy some cooper works performance parts instead of the whole package. Is there some kind of suspension parts from the cooper works that we can buy separately? Other information that I should know before shopping my Mini? |

Offline | I have a full body kit on my MCS and I also really like how it makes the car stand out of the crowd. The bodykit on mini.ca is 1915.50$, so I assume 3000$ includes the fitting. Also the extra money might be for the wheel arches paint job which is not included in the price (but makes a noticeable difference, specially on non-black cars).Regarding maintenance I've only driven ~4000kms so I can't comment on the service history yet. All I can say is that so far so good, except one cold morning following a rainy day (gotta love extreme temp variations) the shifter mechanism was frozen in first gear. Lucky me I was parked just outside my garage, never happened again either. Good choice on the mini you'll love it. Just remember, it's a performance car not an economy car (don't be fooled by the small displacement, it's thirsty on gas). Go kart handling comes with go kart suspension (damn potholes). I went to Mini Brossard before buying too and I had a very pleasant experience. Didn't buy there cause they didn't have exactly what I wanted though. good luck on your purchase! |

Offline | What do you mean they didn't have what you were looking for? How much did your bodykit cost you? I didn't know that they paint the arches of the wheels also with the bodykit. What accessories do you suggest me to get with my Mini? I like the bodykit and the 17 inch white wheels and white top and mirrors. |

| MINI2 Master | $250 is waaaaaay too much for the first oil change (which is at around 15k km, not 24k). That was from a crazy place in Toronto that charges (and gets!!) $107/hr for labour, just insane. Out here in the stix of Waterloo they charge the still outrageous but not quite as bad $80/hr and the oil change comes out to just over $140. Still silly but with synthetic oil (the good stuff from europe), I guess its alright. When you think about most cars where you change the oil every 3000km, paying $140 every 15-25k isn't bad (you'd change 5-8 times @$30 otherwise for $150-$240 total). The second service was more since they drained my brake/clutch fluid and did some other stuff so it was around $250. The third service is coming up soon (my car has 55500km on it). I'll let you know but I think it is just another oil change. Other expensive stuff with this car: if you really enjoy it, you'll go through brakes and tires too, especially if you get the performance summer tires. Mine lasted less than 2 full summers... Harry MINI Cooper Cabrio: now the car with go cart handling really feels like an open go cart! Offline | Mini-c I was looking to buy a 2004 when the 2005s were already available so I browsed cars that the dealers had in their inventories and ended up buying a 2k4 demo. So I'm not sure what the actual cost is. Mine came with the wheel arches painted, but this was a special case the kit doesn't include painting the arches. Also sInce the body kit is a dealer installed item prices can vary from one place to the other I suppose. 3000$ does not sound unreasonable. The other thing that the dealer had suggested to me was that if I had bought a MCS that didn't have the body kit already installed they could get the standard skirts painted to match the body colour. They could do that for around ~1k$. On my S I got the white roof, but replaced the white mirror caps with the chromed ones. I prefer body coloured or chrome mirror caps but that's just me ![]() You can pm me if you have more specific questions I'll be happy to help you make up your mind ![]() |
