Offline | Pricing... I was at the Calgary dealership this evening and try to get an idea of the pricing of an MCS, and even with a BMW salesman I know with me, they won't sell below MSRP at all. Granted I'll have to order one from the factory given the options I want and don't want. Has anyone from Calgary successfully bought one with any type of discount at all? |

Offline | Yes when I went to the dealer, they didn't have the color I wanted with the options I wanted. So he told me 2 to 3 months of wait to get the car I want. And for the price forget about it, they won't go down. I don't care for the price but the thing that bug me is that they don't store a lot of car so your chance to get the color and options that you want are pretty slim.. |

Offline | A friend of mine is picking up his new CR/W Cooper from MINI Crowfoot today. (I told him to get a different colour than mine, but no...) He picked a car from their inventory and was able to negotiate a substantial discount of $1,500 or more. The deal was actually made on April 30th so with the combo of taking a stock unit and maybe some pressure to meet the month's quota he scored some good savings. Now if you are placing a factory order your chance of any discount is slim - I paid full MSRP for mine, although they did give me a $300 merchandise credit that I spent on rubber mats, t/u paint, an oil filter, and the great euro parcel shelf. |

Offline | I understand it's difficult to stock cars, expecially with so many body and roof colour combinations. One thing I noticed though is that most of the cars in their inventory are heavily optioned, but many of them don't have the sport package and LSD. That tells me that they think customers prefer luxury and gadgets over performance, which I suppose makes sense for most people who buy it as a fashion accessory, but sucks for the enthusiasts. I have all sorts of gadgets in my Audis right now, after living with them for some years, I realize I don't need most of them. In fact they're just more things to break and add weight to the car. The options I want in my MCS are: - dark silver w/ white roof - grey/white cloth seats - sport package - chrono package - LSD - heated seats (I do live in Calgary afterall )- anthracite roof liner Of course most cars come with the premium package and leather seats, that adds nearly $4k to the price!! |

Offline | I just purchased Copper CVT and managed to get $1200 off the MSRP. Mainly cause I got a inventory one that had everything I wanted except the roof color but I was ok with that - but made it look like I was disappointed - which made the dealer take more off the price. I was a little put off by the fact that it had been sitting around in the lot for 6 weeks, but I was saving money so I though why not. But then as luck would have it - head office recalled the car I was promised and turned it into a courtesy car (so the dealer told me). So then they managed to find one that had just been produced and it is on the way here now. Sometimes you won't be able to get anything off the MSRP so work them on the crap they add on at the end. For example they wanted me to give them $20 for gas that would be in the car. I said I don't want the gas - he was like there has to be gas in car - i said ok then I don't want to pay $20. He looked at me like I was crazy. So I said ok the car i'll be trading in will have gas in the tank too so lets call it even. Between this and a bunch of other little 'oh ah's' I managed to get a couple hundred dollars off more - plus two sets of floormats (winter & summer) |

| 05 MCS BEP | It is possible there might be some price movement if you buy the car and not lease it. There is a lease promotion going on right now. If you buy the car, you might be able to negotiate a price in lieu of the lease promotion. This would be considered a factory authorized discount as opposed to the dealer discounting. That should be passed on to the customer. Possibly order the car before the promotion expires and pay a substantial deposit. Probably about a thousand dollars (CDN) can be negotiated off the price. ...oops I just just checked MINI.CA, I should take that back. The lease offer is on MC and MCC only. You ordered an MCS. If you're willing to put the deposit down right away, the dealer might make the concession. However, what they might do is offer you no discount but kick in a whole bunch of accessories like keychains, hats, t-shirts etc. Good luck. |

Offline | I purchased mine yesterday and we got rubber mats, and some anti-theft thingies so that people don't steal your tires (lugnuts)? I would never pay $100+ for mats, so in my mind, I'm satisfied. The only other freebie was a free IPOD and the car adapter which works to $800+ after installation. Score! Anyway, those are just the icing on the cake; the car's what you really want, isn't it? Don't get me wrong: it would stoke my ego to score vouchers and whatever... but if you want high resale value at the end of your terms, they have to keep it fairly high... case in point: BMWs, Mercedes, et al. No discounts whatsoever unless you REALLY work it on the lower trimmed models or year-ends. |

Offline | Keep in mind that mark up on each MINI is about < 3000$, and <100-200$ on each package. Hell, when I was working there, I didn't even get as much as I would like off. Although, cost + 500 is pretty good. You can get a better deal on a car that has been sitting there for 100 days or more, as well as a demo I believe. |
