United-States Can Pulley Kit be Added to Auto Cars?

I posted this to the drivetrain thred but will here as well because I'm looking for auto owners that have added a pulley kit to their cars.

I have a 2005 convertible MCSa and was looking into a pulley kit. I was looking at a 17 or 19% kit and the ProMini intake. Those are the only performance upgrades I intend to do other than perhaps an exhaust later. I'm located near Atlanta, GA and there's a ProMini dealer nearby but when I contacted them they said it was a lot more work to do to add the pulley kit to the auto and they wouldn't do it, plus they said they worried about the tranny if the kit were installed and advised against it.

Has anyone added the kit to an auto car and what are the concerns with doing it? I don't thrash my car and I can't believe the engineering on the auto is so marginal that the basic upgrades I'm considering would push the unit over the limit.

PS: 20,000 miles and I LOVE this car!

Thanks,

Ron B.

I am looking at adding the Helix 15% pulley from Webb Motorsports in addition to my JCW intake & JCW exhaust, and I know of at least one other person on this forum that is successfully running a 15% Helix pulley on their MCSa.

Having said that, I don't think going beyond a 15% pulley is advisable. The tranny should handle the 15%, after all there are factory JCW auto conversions running around in the UK. We can't get them here though.

As far as fitting the pulley, I've heard that the MCSa's engine is about 20mm further over than the regular MCS, so perhaps that's where they are thinking it will take more work.
