Offline | Hello, I'm new in this forum. I've read the threads about the transmissions but I couldn't get clear about my question. I bought a 2004 Cooper with steptronic transmission. How do I understand if it's a CVT or normal automatic? What is the difference between them? I've read the data sheet, etc. posted in this forum but I'm not much of a technical person. Can you simply explain? I'll appreciate if you help me about this. Thanks. |

| The ruff puppy & MINI | Cooper is CVT. CVT is used on low power vehicles with low torque levels, hence why Cooper S has a proper automatic box. Arguably proper automatics are better in some ways, but I love CVT! More information at: Continuously variable transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Hope this helps :-) |
