I switch it over to SD and tried to up or downshift and I get no reaction. It just stays in SD mode. I am off warranty - do I have any options besides the dealer?

Did you try both the paddles and the stick shifter?

I havent got any paddles, I have the 3 spoke sport steering wheel and just the automatic stick. When I slide it over to SD it works, but pushing and or pulling on it to shift manually has no effect. Other wise it work okay.

Pull up the gearshift gaiter and ring, pull the cables through the carpet and unclip them, leave unclipped for about a minute, then reclip. This almost seems to reset the CVT software, and resolves all my problems!
