MCSa question

hi guys..im new here and i just bought a '05 Mini cooper S auto and i have a bit of confusion after reading all the sticky in this forum.Does mini cooper S have CVT?What is the difference with CVT and Auto transmission?Sorry im a newbie and hopefully someone can be kind enough to explain to me.Thank you.

Welcome to MINI2. I don't think that I can explain it any clearer than the posts that are already on this thread.

The MCSa is a conventional hydraulic automatic transmission built by Aisin. Installed in MCS automatic models from 2005 on.

The CVT is a continuously variable transmission installed in all automatic coopers until 2007, at which time MINI switched 2007 Cooper models to the Aisin. A Google search for CVT will give you pages of info about that transmission.

thanks..so theres no CVT for MCS you mean.Only normal cooper?

Correct, there never was, and will never be a MCS with CVT. The MC for 2007 now has the Aisin six speed.
