Bracket racing CVT Cooper

I haven't had the opportunity, but imagine the consistency. With practice, a MINI Cooper could possibly be the perfect bracket racer around!
Could there be a possibility of it not being legal at some events?
What do you think?

I know this has been discussed some in other threads this summer. I may have a chance to line up for Friday night with the kids in their hotrods this week ...

I took the '67 Cooper S last year. What a kick. Getting BLOWN OFF by nitrous-snorting Honda Civics or big block Dodge Chargers was interesting, but beating people to 60 feet lit up the crowd and many came around to look it over.

I was caught by your "consistency" comment which was borne out on the dyno when we strapped the car down forr a bunch of pulls earlier in July. The software very heavily manages everything, and it was "consistent" every run.

With proper tuning, the CVT Cooper would be a very good race car. Now only if I could find a cable to connect ECU to a computer and the necessary software. Shoot, even if there were a chip for the CVT, I'd buy it.

I thiink you're right. My interest has been to thoroughly understand the car for street and track day road driving.

I'm looking for people who have really dug into this Cooper CVT, and you've seen some of the traffic and the threads on Technique and Testing.

Yeah, I think it would be quite interesting to see how much HPs the CVT can handle. Bracket racing... If there is a way to get that CVT to hold out longer in the revs... ? Auto boxes are quick on the strip.

The input shaft speed is limited to 6000rpm by ZF; that's why the 6000 rev limit on the MINI motor in the Cooper CVT.
