Transmission Question?

Hi.

I have a 2004 mc with about 55,000 miles on it. For the last few months I noticed that the RPMS stay in between 3500 and 4700 while I am trying to pick up speed, driving between 50-70 miles an hour. While this is happening it feels like my car is pulling back a little, not allowing itself to move through this. Maybe there is a better vocabulary to describe this, I know nothing about cars really. Anyway, once it passes through this phase it driving smoothly at 3000 RPMS. Is it the CVT? Is this normal? Do I have get my transmission looked at? Any feedback will help.

Thanks in advance.

How far down are you pushing the gas pedal? That will effect how much the engine revs. With my 2003 CVT the RPM is higher when I push the pedal down more. At highway speeds, mine does not rev that much if I am just doing slight acceleration.

If you are detecting a change in behavior, you should take it to the dealer ASAP. It's possible that a failing battery or something else is corrupting the transmission software. If you get it to the dealer before it really gets bad, it could save you a tow job like I had to do.
