HI Guys,

I'm a bit confused on this, the service book that came with my 03 cooper says that the CVT fluid should be changed as part of the Inspection 1 service, but my local BMW garage say this is should only be done at Inspection 2.

I'm assuming the service book must be a miss-print, but can anyone post as to when (or if) they have had their CVT gearbox fluid changed during routine maintenance?

My '06 MC CVT had trans fluid changed at service I - appx 30k mi.

Just checked the paperwork for my 03 cooper cvt

I had the inspection 1 service completed last july and they have checked the box which states change cvt fluid.

It gets stranger and stranger! I asked a different guy today at my dealers and he said quite definately that the CVT fluid doesn't need replacing at Inspection 1, and doesn't age like other fluids in the car and should easily be good until the Service Inspection 2 which would be when the car is 8 years old given my low mileage!

I suppose in the end I will have to take the dealers word for it as I can't exactly force them to change the fluid

Can I ask who your dealer was BTW? Maybe I should try ringing them and ask them what they think!

Hey there

Just noticed our cars are very similar (good taste we have) :-)

I had it serviced by the supplying dealer which was Specialist at Stevenage

Service I (26K) on mine as well. And as Drewuk said there is specific box for it on the MINI Service maintenance Checklist under Inspection I.
