Mini One Transmisson Problem

Just had my ex-gf on the phone asking about a problem with her mini one (52plate). From what I can gather (she's going to drive it now and report back exactly what it's like so i'll update later) but basically, from a slow speed, when the accelerator is pressed, the engine revs pick up but the acceleration is slow to pick up. Now this sounded like a lack of transmission fluid getting into the torque converter but I've since learnt that it's a CVT(?) and therefore doesn't have a torque converter so I'm a bit stuck for ideas.

Has this happened to anyone else before? What is it likely to be and is it a 'don't drive it until you can get it to the garage' problem. She's not mechanically minded at all but the garage can't see the car until tuesday and she needs it for work for the rest of the week (she has a disability so public transport isn't an option).

Any help greatly appreciated, and like I said earlier, I'll report back with a more detailed description in the next hour-ish. The more urgent issue is whether to drive it to work tomorrow (5miles each way) but any comments welcome.

Thanks, Arry.
