Try one out you will be surprised.

Audi currently uses a CVT tranny in their A6 Luxury sedan. Oh and it is fitted to a 3.0L V6 engine, so that takes away some of the myths around CVT's not been capable of handling the extra power of large displacement engines. Saturn is using a CVT in their VUE midsize SUV. Toyota uses one in their Prius and Honda uses one in their 2 seater, the Insight.

I think it is a bit of a long shot trying to compare the reliability of today's CVTs with one fitted to a Scooter 20 years ago. Technology has come a long way during that time as well as enhanced quality and durability.

I drove stick shifts for over 11 years and quite frankly got sick and tired of clutching, gearshifting, clutching and on and on and on in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic.

The CVT has a "6-speed" Steptronic clutchless mode, so when I feel like shifting in my favorite road, with a flick of the gear selector, I have 6 simulated gears (With lotsa engine braking power) at my finger tips.

Clutch pedals will soon become a thing of the past.

Oh and I would love to see MINI one day offer a SMG (Sequential Manual gearbox) for their MCS model. They currently do offer one in the pricey BMW M3 Coupe and Convertible....sweet!

Uh, where on this planet can you get a Cooper S CVT? If that were available, that is what I would have purchased!

The Cooper MCS is not currently available at this time with a CVT or any other type of automatic transmission (SMG comes to mind).

If you can't even get a custom paint job on an ordered MINI, don't even dream about getting an off-spec car with mechanicals not available any where in the world where the MINI is sold.

Sorry, whomever is promising you this is telling you big time BS.

The MCS with CVT, DOESN'T EXIST!!!

Time to move on....

Where does it say that I can order a "Custom" MCS equipped with a CVT tranny?

MINIUSA's website certainly does not.

If there is an official MINI link stating otherwise, then I would be very interested in finding out.

The only way he could possibly have a CVT S is if he did it himself or payed an "aftermarket" garage big bucks to do it for him. There's no way it came from the factory that way. It's not like you can just pull out the Getrag and drop in the CVT and off you go.
