Off the line acceleration on CVT

I have frequently needed to pull out into traffic and had trouble not being able to get out of the way because of the CVT programming. Anyone out there know of any possibilities of reprogramming the computer or something of the sort??

Have you tried using sport/steptronic mode? I haven't driven the CVT yet, but the other disussions about it, most seem to indicate that it makes it quitre a bit "peppier." If you're already in sport/step, well, I don't know what to tell ya.

If you are past the run-in period, the step-down mode (hit the gas, Jack) or sport modes should help, otherwise, try manual mode to take off. Just remember to keep the rev's down until the run-in period is over. I have been playing with manual and CVT modes and acceleration has generally been just fine, but manual does "feel" better.

I agree with the other two posts about "punch it, Margaret" and using the M/S mode. It definitely helps.

However, there is still a little lag time regardless of the mode or how hard you push the pedal. You'll still get moving pretty quick since the car is just so darn spritely, it seems to make up for the little sluggishness at the outset.

I have 3600 miles on my MINI. I am quite aware of the different CVT modes, and I will just punch it! =) The CVT tranny is just downright lethargic off the line...

Go for it. Use your drag strip launch when pulling out on Hwy 1....
