The wife insisted we get a CVT and I'm stuck with it!

To make matters worse, many of the places that sell air intakes highly recommend them for 5-speeds only.

Can someone educate a fellow with little mechanical knowledge as to why.

Will that CVT keep me from ever doing performance mods to the MINI?

Dont worry, there are plenty of mods for the CVT. Not only can you get performance products for the engine. But think about all the cool stuff that is available for the suspension

.

And there is a group of CVT owners trying to get them to make special parts for the CVT only

.

I say go for the filter first than move on to the other fun things.Don't look at the CVT as a bad thing, think of it as an oppurtunity to drive a 6-speed cooper
