How Fast is Your Mini with CVT From 0-60??

Hello --

How fast is your Mini with CVT from 0-60 mph? I have seen reported times from 9+ to 11 seconds.

Thanks.

I have not made time measuraments in my Cooper CVT, but I can tell you that this car takes off with gusto in either Sport Mode or Steptronic mode all the way down from "1st gear".

The regular Cooper engine has a maximum of 110 pounds feet of torque @ 4,000 RPM so the engine really comes on its own above 3K RPM give or take.

I find myself lately driving the car mostly in Sport and Steptronic mode and only use Noamrl drive mode for highway cruising or whenever I don't feel like shifting or want to improve upon my gas mileage.

Some people say that the CVT takes over 10 seconds to get to 60MPH and I happen to strongly disagree with that. I have driven cars in the past that are really dogs that even if you floor them they don't seem to move at all.

What i think that can get trickier with measuring 0-60 times in the Cooper CVT is that the car performs differently under any of the 3 CVT programming modes, so I suspect that the slowest times will be reported under Normal mode. However on the other 2 sport modes the car really, really moves.

The folks at Diamond Racing ([urlwww.diamondracinggroup.com[/url]) have been working on performance upgrades for the Cooper CVT. I think they should be able to tell you whether their 0-60 times do really agree with the over 10 second estimates or not.
