Paid less than 150,000...considerably less! The car is in pristine condition. Hope to keep it that way, but I do plan to add some personalized touches eventually.
You're right on the color and option choices. Mine is pure silver/black. I might have gone for a brighter choice, but really like what I have. And, I'm truly enjoying the CVT after three days of experimenting.

Sorry, I ve no ideas as I haven't thought about possessing a CVT MC. In the 1st carshow, even I had no ideas of the MCS would look like, I made up my mind for orderring it.

woody, that's a good deal. I'm surprised the owner wanted to let go of it so quickly and at such a discount. But hey, that's a good deal for you - enjoy!

ar75, I ordered velvet red with white top and white wheels. will be adding some white stripes too. I know VR has been discontinued in UK and US.... but that's good in a way cos it makes it more unusual.

acc,

Excellent colour combination! Is it the only one in Hong Kong?

I am really ****ed off. The dealer just called to say the Oct quota is already full. He didn't know when i made the order on Sat. How incompetent! It means the car will now arrive till mid-Jan04. That's way too long a wait!

Woody, where can I find a used CVT like yours? I've looked through the classified and places like carcity, there aren't many.

For my experience, the delivery period is always prolonged. Maybe the BMW salemen like claiming a little bit shorter delivery period coz they just want u to give them orders. Btw, it's y Mini is the best buy car for the time being in HK.

Really sorry to hear of the delay. I found the Mini on a display board at a Wellcome store. I think I was just fortunate. Having said that, I'm already convinced that I want to order a new Mini Cooper S with manual transmission. I am enjoying the CVT, but I know I'd like the manual with more oomph! Keep looking...I know Car City had a yellow/white Mini for sale on consignment...manual transmission and about 45,000km. You might try contacting Mark at Car City!

thanks. I've already sounded out the carcity one. not really my colour choice, but it's very new (only May 2003) and it's CVT. But the asking price is quite high - HK$180k. We'll see how it goes.

They must have sold the one I referred to. It was a 2002 with 45,000km. Manual, yellow/white. They were asking HK$150+ but the salesman told me it would probably go for more like HK135,000. I weighed up the diffrence between 45,0000 and 7,800km...for about the same price...and opted for the CVT in Silver/Black. I'm happy with my decision.

Today, for the first time, I noticed that the car sort of 'loped' along when I first started off in Drive. Also, I have noted a considerable lag time when first starting in either D or SM. It's a 1 to 2 second lack of response. I'm wondering if the most recent computer software update would eliminate the lag...anyone know?

Now you note the delay. That's the major reason we tried many mods. It's not to make it run faster. But rather to make it run smoother!
With the CVT upgrade, it's better. But then it changed the parameters again. I have to change back the spark plugs to make it perform. Will definitely need to re-gap the iridium Denso spark plugs before putting them back in.

YC, did you change back the stock spark plug? Any difference?

Do you have any info for the re-gap, pls share.

Yes, I changed back to the stock spark plugs but with the Magnecor on. Much smoother and without the "boating" effect on low speed. Pls. note this happens only after I upgrade the CVT. I guess I need to gap the IK20 spark plugs to 0.032 as the standards are 0.04 but I need to find the gauge first.
But I can feel the power of the upgraded CVT now with the old spark plugs.

Thanks, YC. Will the dealer do the computer upgrade for the CVT under warranty or do you need to pay for it? Not sure, since I just transferred ownership and warranty to my name!
Woody

BTW...Boating is a good way to describe it...like being set back or pushed ahead by little waves!
