United-States CVT Stall

Today I was driving my baby which I just picked up on tuesday. The car was finished in august and is still very young. I was driving and my engine stalled. I have a cvt and did not do anything out of the ordinary. The service engine soon light came on and I restarted the car and it was fine. What should I do? I never expected stalling with the cvt. Please tell me what you think!

Call your dealer, get it back to them and let them check it... it's probably just a one time thing... but an error code may show in the computer if its anything serious. Definitely let them know and have it checked.

you might need updated software...the worst can be the engine harness is faulty but the car might already have the newest harness. good luck

wow sorry it took so long to get back but when this happend i had about 150 miles on it. It is a 08/03 build date. The dealer updated the software and now the mini is perfect! Just hit a 1000 miles last week.

If someone makes fun of a MINI it's only due to jealousy!!!!

My CVT just stalled 2 times in the last 3 weeks. Both times as I was slowing down to stop for a light.

Have been driving it for over 4000 miles with no issues and now it stalled twice in a short period.

Both times it started right back up no problem.

Picked up the car in July 03 with a May 03 build date.

United-States CVT Stall

I just picked mine up Monday night (2 days ago) and had the same problem yesterday. Stalled once while in traffic at low speeds and started right back up. I was showing a friend how the SD and tiptronic worked, and might have unintentionally did the "flick" that I've seen described on this board (SD, then 1st, 2nd, then back to D). It happened right after switching back and forth. Hasn't happened again, but plan on bringing it up to my MA. I was glad to see that other people have experienced the same problem.

Also wanted to add that I LOVE the car, and although the CVT will take some getting used to, I wouldn't trade this car for anything! Way too much fun.

It seems this happens to us in colder states (NY, Maryland) and me here in Illinois. After a year of software update, mine stalled last week and almost got stalled again last night.

Does anyone in warmer state experience this stalled issue??

i live in melbourne, australia and m car has stalled before too
it happened a few weeks ago and i called my dealer straight away and he said they'd check it for me but i haven't had time to take it in yet...
mine is an older car - july 02 build
it happened just as i was slowing the car down to do a U-turn
my car also seems to struggle sometimes at low speeds - usually more so in colder weather

i got an exhaust because i wanted to make my car sound fast, but its not fast at all, so therefore i am a ricer....

Mine has been almost stalling (real loss of power and a bit of studdering) on the mornings when the temp is less than 30 (-2C for those on the metric scale). I have the latest software updates too.
