Here's what I've done to a CVT

OK...Here is a complete list of the entire modifications that have been completed to date on the primeMINIster:

The formal list of the performance mods are as follows:

BMP Instake
Madness Big-Bore Throttle Body
SuperSprint Exhaust
Powerchip ECU
H-Sport Springs
Alta Rear Sway Bar
H-Sport Control Arms
17" Wheels and Yokohama ES100s
Schrick Stage 1 Camshaft
Milltek Stainless Header
Cooper S Valves
Ported/Polished Cylinder Head

The list of the interior mods are as follows:

Union Jack Flag Sunroof Decal by Cooper Flags
Bonnet Stripes
Rally Lights
Tinted Windows
Euro Shelf
Console Organizer

Finally, the most important mod:

thePassport SR7 with Laser Shifters

Now the real questions is: "How well is the CVT handling all this hp"? The answer is just fine with no problems. If I had to guess we are pushing 160 to 165 hp on the Cooper (stock 115hp)! We will be installing a temp gauge to moniter the CVT. It has been a wild ride.

Yeah I put a BMP Intake too, the next mod was going to be an exhaust. I am glad to see someone who had already done this. Keep us informed how well your CVT holds up. I want to see how much you can actually do with the CVT Mini.

Robert asked a key question of himself: "'How well is the CVT handling all this hp?' The answer is just fine with no problems. If I had to guess we are pushing 160 to 165 hp on the Cooper (stock 115hp)! We will be installing a temp gauge to moniter the CVT. It has been a wild ride."

So how is it going now that you've run the configuration for awhile? ... and I'm very curious about what the car feels like when you drive it now. Is there real increased performance (numbers would help; 0-60mph or 1/4mi or some other metric)?

We've seen several references to this model not being calibrated to accept more power. I don't understand exactly how that would work, but you are a live example of a machine with lots more power, so what has happened? How does it drive? A report please!

the next mod you want is a gearbox that can handle it.

The more I try to learn about this engineering the more curious some of the details become. The ZF ecoTronic VT1F can be configured to "handle it" as you stated (up to 170Nm torque), but it has been "calibrated" (mechanical parts, belt tensions, valving, and software) specifically for 150Nm (110+ft-lb) torque. I'm very curious how that new power is being delivered to the contact patches (objective numbers), and what it feels like (subjective).

primeMINIster, Are you doing these installs yourself or paying someone to do if for you? If it's not too crass to ask, how much did (each of) these mods cost you?

Updated experiences?

For those who posted their experiences earlier, what is the current state with the mods on your cars? Any stories to tell?
