Offline | CVT Info/Help - (Sorry for the dumb question) Hello there everyone, I have been lurking around these parts for a few days now. I am about to put in an order for a Cooper Automatic (CVT). I have been reading all the posts and I am trying to gather up as much information as I possibly can. I have chosen the CVT mainly for the ever increasing traffic congestion in London and basic ease and hopefully stress free driving. Can I ask a really dumb question to those who have or have tried the CVT versions : Is it really so easy to drive? Literally down on the accelerator and steer? Down on brake to slow/stop? (I know, that's 3 dumb questions). The Steptronic mode - easy to switch over too/handling/control? I'm dying to get the car (my first one) and I hope it's as good as I read about! Any comments no matter how short would be appreciated. This is a great forum. Thanks a lot H. |

Offline | Yes. Easy as an automatic. Step on the gas and it goes; step on the brake and it stops. Easy to switch back and forth. Just move the selector to the right. (Left for the Euro cars? ) -- Thanks for reading! -- |

Offline | It's a great car and a great system. Ease of an auto with at least some of the fun of a manual when you're in the mood. My wife drove mine for a long distance and played around with the different modes for the first time this weekend coming back from Vegas and loved it. Offline | Howling, you might be in a position to give us some feedback on what information you have found most useful here, and what other items might help you as a new reader/new driver/new owner. Some people have invested their time in documents and FAQs that are not yet posted in these Forums, but their thoughts and intent was to help someone in your situation. The car is easy to drive, even more so after the latest v36.0 software. You can add more control and interaction with the machine to your driving technique if you want to, or not. It is a very flexible and capable car! '02 MINI Cooper CVT(6/12/02; Indi Blue/Black, R-81 7-hole 15x5.5" or NZO 16x6.5") '67 Austin Cooper S (6/26/67; Tartan Red/Black, 10x4.5") |

Offline | Hope you keep reading this forum! Glad to know you're getting a CVT. It is the BEST automatic I have ever driven, easy to use, it offers the option of enhancing your driving experience with manual selection...or not. The shifting is quite easy and quick, and I believe you'll have steering-wheel paddles, as well. You'll love it. Offline | Hi again, I am finding the whole site and these forums very informative. It's great to see a site devoted to one make of car and looking at everyones postings, thoughts etc is just fantastic. Everything about the car (s) seems to be discussed and it is super for a new driver (soon to be owner of a Cooper) like myself to dip in and out and ask questions of those who have more expereince with the car. I'd much rather read the thoughts of current owners than reviews online, although some of them are very useful. Thanks again |

Offline | CVT in London As Americans living in London we chose a CVT, also, to ease traffic and driving-on-the-left issues. We couldn't be more pleased -- great car and great transmission. |
