Offline | You're not the only one! I don't drive stick and got a lot of flack for it when I posted a question about it last year..but I got over it. I'm told that CVT will not be shipped to my area(NJ)until June 2002, which could mean August, you know how that goes. |

Offline | Same here! I just ordered a CVT in liquid yellow with white roof and mirrors. Not sure when the build date is but the dealer said delivery should be july. Has anyone ordered from Peabody, MA for a CVT? Any news from them?? ![]() 2002 Liquid Yellow Mini Cooper, White roof, 16" white wheels. |

Offline | CVT availability I ordered a Cooper w/CVT from Peabody on 3/27. Salesman told me they weren't expecting a demo unit until late May, and that mine should be availble in June, but that sounds optimistic. I've ordered an all Jet Black with Premium pkg, Xenons, fogs, modified cold weather, DSC, sport seats. I don't know how the Xenon situation will affect my order. |

Offline | Manual (stick shift) vs. CVT The CVT auto does take a little getting used to if you're not used to that type of transmission, but once you have mastered its operation (which doesn't take long) you will discover that it is very refined and flexible, and I didn't find its behaviour to be disconcerting - very rarely did it sound as if its 'clutch' was 'slipping'. It's true that the car's outright acceleration may be slightly slower at times with the CVT, but the advantage of the CVT is that when you need power in a hurry you always end up in the right gear as opposed to "select third, whoops not low enough, select second", etc. And the manual override - whilst not strictly essential - can add some fun to driving as well, and the pause between gear changes is roughly the same as the delay in changing gears using a manual transmission. It is very likely that I will be going for the manual transmission but only because of cost reasons, and apparently the John Cooper Works upgrade can be used with the CVT. Has anyone driven a JC Works Cooper with CVT? |

Offline | We went out for dinner and decided to make a detour on the way home and drive by our Mini dealer. And guess what .... our Liquid Yellow Cooper CVT was sitting there waiting for us! The salesman said that he had tried to call us, but we were out, so he left a message on our answering machine. How about that for timing! Unfortunately, we didn't have our check book with us, so we'll actually take delivery in Long Beach tomorrow. That will give the dealer time to finish detailing the car and throw in a set of floor mats. We are two real happy campers! This is one of the first CVT's in California. Liquid Yellow Cooper CVT -w- white roof & mirrors and sport package, leatherette and 16" 5-Star alloys; and, Dark Silver Cooper S -w- white roof & mirrors, premium & sport packages and lapis blue/leather. Offline | Niello MINI in Sacramento has just started posting on their website a list of soon to arrive MINIs. ( no actual arrival dates though) The last car on the current list is a yellow/white CVT Cooper. Apparently Bill Sz's taste in cars is shared by MINI. Anyway, between Bill's car and this new arrival it does look like the CVT's are starting to come through. |
