United-Kingdom CVT Software question

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if the latest software (V37??) would come as standard with a new `04 Cooper? Do Mini notify the owner when a new upgrade is available or should I keep
an eye out on this great board ?

There seems to be upgrades appearing quite regularily?

Thanks again

Howling.

My understanding is that a delivered (new) car comes with the most-current-at-the-time software version installed as part of the delivery prep process.

From that point forward, the BMW/MINI process uses a respond-to-problems approach, except for the major service events (25,000mi?) where I've heard that the software is checked as part of that process. These Forums will keep track of the what the latest versions are, and the effect on the cars. If you have a similar problem, then calling the dealer for an appointment to resolve that issue loads the new and latest software version.

BMW/MINI is still missing a marketing opportunity here. Because there were real problems, across all the models, everyone is now very attentive or even worried about software and software version. Most (not all) of these early problems are now resolved.

Just like Microsoft (or maybe a better example is the positive and careful marketing by Apple), MINI could draw us into deeper investment in the cars through the software. I think they could make the whole thing a very cool conversation item by detailing what the version updates really do, and making some of the engine management, transmission enablement, and car features owner choices.
