DIY CVT Transmission failure

Just wanna share my experience on a dead CVT MC.
My Mid-2002 built CVT MC has a dead CVT transmission 2 weeks ago. When the car is still/stop and the engine is warm, it doesn't start to move at D or R without giving it 3-4 times more gas. However, it "seems" normal when the engine is started cold and after it rolls. At last, I have it towed to BMW for service.
After a week of different parts changing in the gearbox, they finally replace the whole CVT gearbox and the computer (this's what they told me). The cost is $2xxxx. Luckily it's still under warranty.
On the day the CVT dies, it "drinks" all my $300 gas for a turn-around trip between Yuen Long and the airport while I can go back and forth 3 times normally. (my god, is it a V12 SL600??) Well, there was nothing wrong before the day that CVT failed.
One interesting thing with the new CVT gearbox though. The MPG is now better than before. It was $1.3/km and now $1.0/km. Not sure if it's the gearbox or the new computer lu...

Glad you got it sorted, there seem to be some faulty cvt that fail at one given time. Did it die all of a sudden or was there something you noticed from day 1 that you can now relate to the failure?

It just dies one day without anything wrong beforehand.
