Offline | CVT Cooper Cruises LB Grand Prix Race Circuit In case you haven't heard, on Sunday the CART Long Beach Grand Prix race was won by Michael Andretti. The race course is a street course, similar to Monacco. We went to the race yesterday and thought, "Wouldn't it be fun to take our new CVT Cooper for a spin on the track?" Well, guess what? After dinner tonight we cruised in the Cooper to downtown Long Beach and the race course was still set-up for the race. Do I hear TEMPTATION? Yes, we did it! We took several laps on the course. Obviously, Mr. Andretti will not have to worry, but we got the car up to 95 mph on a few of the straight-aways, zooming past the concrete barricades, (keeping in mind that break-in limit), and we took several turns that scared the hell out of me and my wife. But, the car seemed to be literally glued to the road! It was as if the car was saying to us, "No big deal." It was a real adventure. We wanted to go back and do a few more laps, but it was starting to get dark and we saw a Long Beach Police Department patrol car get on the track ... so we decided not to press our luck. What a fun experience!! It makes you really appreciate what this car can do. Liquid Yellow Cooper CVT -w- white roof & mirrors and sport package, leatherette and 16" 5-Star alloys (in our hot little hands); and, Dark Silver Cooper S -w- white roof & mirrors, premium & sport packages and lapis blue/leather due in mid June. Offline | Cool! Was anyone watching, or did you manage to go by without being noticed? Maybe I should drive by Silverstone a few times, or the MillBrook proving ground which is near me to see if I could sneek on! (Not much hope of that) ![]() |

Offline | There were some workmen who appeared to be in the process of disassembling a portion of one grandstand. Maybe they called the cops? There was a portion of the course that opened to a back alley and from the alley we scooted on to the course and quickly went back down the alley when we saw the patrol car. Bill Sz. |
