Does anyone have feedback or info on the Steptronic automatic transmission for Minis. Does this provide quicker/smoother shifting than with a manual transmission? Does it work as well in down shifting as up shifting? Is it reliable?

If you're enquiring about the new MCS auto, then it's not availble yet; so you're guess is as good as anyone's as far as reliability goes. I don't think it's groundbreaking technology, so reliability should be OK ? If you're talking about the MC CVT there should be plenty of feedback available (try the "search" function).

It might be worth looking at Audi TT sites, as they use the same Aisin gearbox?
